It's been just over two months since Cyberpunk 2077 launched, following numerous delays over its over seven-year development. While Cyberpunk 2077 has faced significant criticism due to performance issues across systems, and accusations of misleading marketing, it has still received a high amount of praise from players across the gaming spectrum.

With the incredible sales success of Cyberpunk 2077, it should come as no surprise that many cosplayers have taken to donning outfits inspired by the game. As most fans simply aim for creating a very Cyberpunk-esque ensemble, one Redditor opted to bring a more deadly element from the games into the real world.

Redditor dharma_adnyana decided to design and create their own version of Cyberpunk 2077's most recognizable weapon. In the 9 second video uploaded to the official r/cyberpunk subreddit, dharma_adnyana displays his DIY Mantis Blade that features the added flair or retractability. While the weapon doesn't feature the same ornate design found in Cyberpunk 2077's own Mantis Blades, it is still an impressive creation worthy of attention.

The post is making quite the impression on the Cyberpunk 2077 community, currently having over 300 comments alongside a 92 percent upvote. It has even received a Gold Award alongside numerous other accolades from Reddit. Clearly many are eager to have their own set of retractable blades, and while it may require some craftsmanship, it at least avoids an expensive trip to the Ripperdoc.

With dharma_adnyana only sharing a quick glimpse of their completed project on Reddit, he did provide a much deeper look at the process behind the Mantis Blades on his YouTube channel. The craftsman showed just how the blades came to be with a breakdown of the entire process.

The Mantis Blades may be one of the more easily identifiable elements from developer CD Projekt Red's latest RPG based on the Cyberpunk 2077 roleplaying game. The Mantis Blades were featured in the earliest Cyberpunk 2077 marketing back in 2013 with the initial reveal teaser trailer. Dharma_adnyana even showed the original Cyberpunk 2077 concept art in their demonstration video.

It's always a treat to see the ingenuity of fans in bringing elements from a video game into the real world. dharma_adnyana's popular post comes as a positive story during a trying time for the publisher and developer behind Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red is currently dealing with a significant data breach that has seen important development information leak online.

Following the cyber-attack against CD Projekt Red earlier this month, hackers are seeking to release the source code for numerous games, including Cyberpunk 2077. The story behind the hack is still developing, but the publisher is trying its best to curb the leaks.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One. It is scheduled to release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles later this year.
