Amazon's New World has received another delay, this time pushing the upcoming MMO from its projected Spring 2021 release to August 31st, 2021.

In a post on the New World website, the team stated it's hard at work making end-game content for the MMO, but that it won't be ready for the projected Spring timeframe they initially quoted. As such, they've delayed the release of the game till August 31st.

From the post:

"We’ve been hard at work on compelling end-game features we believe are important to include at launch. These features won’t be ready for the Spring timeframe that we had communicated. With that in mind, we will release New World on August 31, 2021. With this extra time we’ll be able to add these substantial improvements while polishing and fine tuning the whole game before we open Aeternum’s shores to the world."

Additionally, a closed beta will be coming on July 20th, and if you've pre-ordered New World, you'll have access to the beta. Some of the features players can expect in the beta include the new Ebonscale Reach zone, touting end-game content, as well as the 5-player instances called Expeditions. These instances bring players to "the darkest corners of Aeternum," where you'll learn more about the source of the corruption facing the Eternal Isle.

Finally, a new PVP mode called Outpost Rush is being worked on for the beta. A 20v20 battle pits players against each other to control a stronghold and resources on the map in order to win.

The team also released a developer update video, explaining the reasoning behind the delay and what they have in store. You can check out the video in the embed below.
