Sick and tired of waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI to come along? You could always take its mammoth MMO brethren for a spin, which has just announced yet another gargantuan expansion for PlayStation players to look forward to later this year. The Elder Scrolls Online: Blackwood arrives on 8th June 2021, representing a key moment in the Gates of Oblivion tale that Bethesda plans to tell throughout the entirety of this coming year. Get a load of the announcement trailer above for some more context or even to just admire the action.

Set 800 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the city of Leyawiin will be the DLC's main hub area — encompassing a new Companions system too. You'll be able to recruit a unique NPC and give them their own weapons and backstory, essentially creating your own character to fight alongside. Over on the PlayStation Blog, creative director Rich Lambert expands on what to expect from Blackwood story-wise. "This year, the story we are telling is essentially about a deal with the devil. Long ago, the Longhouse Emperors made a pact with Mehrunes Dagon, and it’s up to the players to figure out what is going on and how to stop their schemes from reaching completion."

The Blackwood expansion can be pre-ordered on the PlayStation Store right now, offering new players a bundle to jump in with as well as seasoned veterans direct access to the DLC itself. The former will set you back £49.99/$59.99 and includes the base version of Blackwood alongside the base game and every expansion that has come before it. For those who already own all of that content, they can opt for the standalone £32.99/$39.99 version of Blackwood. A more expensive digital Collector's Edition includes various mounts, pets, outfits, and emotes.
