As you may already know, CD Projekt recently posted a video in which company co-founder Marcin Iwinski spoke about the development troubles of Cyberpunk 2077. The Polish studio reiterated that it's all-in on fixing and supporting its open world title, but what happens when that (admittedly gargantuan) task is complete?
Iwinski briefly touches on this topic in the video. He says: "Beyond Cyberpunk, we have many plans for the future, which we'll share more about when we're ready."
We already know that those future plans involve another Witcher game in some form, but beyond that — and the PS5 upgrade for The Witcher 3 — it's anyone's guess. It's worth noting that CD Projekt Red has expanded significantly over the last few years, to the point where it probably won't be announcing games seven years before they're released.
But for now, we'll gladly take a fully functional Cyberpunk 2077, thank you very much. Hopefully the developer can eventually deliver on the genre-defining RPG that it always promised.

So they have announced a new game for the PS6 then?
I'm just here waiting for the Next-Gen upgrade for TW3
That's all I need
Maybe just stick too one thing
I don't want to dump on CDPR. Nope.
In fact, I really am enjoying Cyberpunk. It's a great game.
But oh, how much better it could have been if they were given the time to finish it.
They are very skilled at this 'game making', and yet, I find that I've taken them off of my 'buy day one, no questions asked' list.
I would rather not hear about their latest plans for anything new. I would like them to quietly make a game, leave us in the dark about what they're up to for a few years, let us forget about them.
Then, with no artificial release dates, no years in advance hype, they could quietly FINISH whatever project they are working on, and THEN announce it.
Imagine the surprise! Imagine the joy of an unexpected AAA game that was COMPLETE AND BEAUTIFUL!
Made all the better because we never saw it coming.
Well, the best way to play Witcher 3 is now, all these years later. And I happily waited until the complete version came out.
So I’m guessing I will enjoy the complete version of Witcher 4 in 2077...
Ciri in Cyberpunk 2077 dlc?
I want next-gen (ps5) version of witcher 3 and cyberpunk plus witcher 1 & 2 remake with witcher 3 engine and gameplay 😃
Another CD Projekt news post. Anything else going on today laughs and *eyeroll
@LordSteev never happen.
When you have shareholders they do not care what you made last year share prices are based upon what your going to make in the future.
So you'll always have pre release marketing no matter what industry your interested in.
Honestly I am so over CDPR at this point. I won't be buying any of their games again. Their "apology" yesterday was laughable at best. If you announce a game before the ps4 launches and then take the entire Gen to develop it, and release it on the ps4 you don't get to say it was developed on "old hardware".
They knew exactly what the hardware entailed. You also don't get to throw your QA team under the bus.
That was the last straw for me. I'm out on CDPR. They have squandered any potential faith I had in them.
@darksoul77 I know, but still, don't poop on my dream.
@Monkeyofthefunk : They ll announce a new Witcher game for the PS5, which only will run decently on the PS6. It'll be advertised as "also runs great on PS5" though
I am waiting eagerly for Witcher 3 PS5 (4K + 60 FPS + RT), since I haven’t played it yet 😅
They need to follow Hello games example and shut up until you have something to show. Dont worry about future projects fix the current mess and include the many missing features that were promised and boasted about.
Sorry but lot of this planned stuff should of been in the game day 1. No fun waiting months or a year to see the missing content. Rather they delayed the game and released the final product. Hence why I wont ever pre-order a game again and wait till its cheap with all content done an included. No Mans Sky and this is to much.
As others have said I'm more disappointed that The Witcher 3 upgrade might be delayed whilst they, understandably, fix CP 2077 I keep wanting to go back but would love to wait for a faster and more crisp version.
They should get the game fixed and finished then put it on PS Plus as an apology.
(I know, never going to happen but could you imagine the uproar from the X Box community.)
Regardless of what they want to say, CDPR are currently neck deep in litigation and any statements they make in the near future will be only what their lawyers allow them to say.
I think this game’s scope exceeded their financial grasp and is why they are in this situation. Further delays would have lead to the investment kryptonite that is “uncertainty“ and the funds were needed to realize their vision. I am not excusing how they did it.
I like Cyberpunk a lot and CDPR is run by human beings with the capacity to learn and change, albeit the hard way. I’m not abandoning this game or this company. Successful businesses are ultimately not built by cling on’s who come and go only as it benefits them.
I could be singing a different tune in a few years time but for now, I’ll stand by them as they recover from this in the hope that they become the company they are striving to be. I’m not afraid of disappointment, but I am afraid of never believing in anything. That’s just my opinion and my position.
@LordSteev That's why I support as many indy titles as I financially can.
They announce a game don't hype it to much and a lot of them run bug free.
Everspace
Terminator resistance
Rebel galaxy outlaw
Immortals (vampire strategy game thingy)
These all ran flawless days one on the ps4.
@darksoul77
Immortals sounds interesting. Is it turn based or real time? I have to admit, I haven't heard of any of those. I'm trying to get into more indy games, mainly through sales on the ps store. I'm just not sure what the good ones are.
@Jimmer-jammer cdpr will learn from this and get better. If they can get it to 90% of what was promised I will be more than happy.
I've played the prologue bit and that's all of cp2077. I will wait for the patches and updates and occasionally stick it on just to listen to that soundtrack.
@LordSteev it's turn based and its a solid and very different strategy game.
If you like vampires werewolf giant bats and zombie army's it's worth a look
@darksoul77 Hah! I like all those things, plus turn-based. Is it on the ps store? If not, where did you find it?
@LordSteev if you don’t mind me jumping in, I can’t let an indie game conversation pass me by without throwing Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons in the ring. I knew nothing about it and it really blew me away. I still think about it a lot.
It’s a short experience but has a unique gameplay dynamic, an impactful story and a world that slowly reveals itself to be much larger and thought provoking than at first glance. It might just be me, but I feel confident in recommending it. Cheers!
@Jimmer-jammer
Thanks man! I will absolutely give it a try. I'm going to write it down, because I recently bought Dragons Dogma and Soma (I think it was you who said something about this one, too), so I'm creating my own backlog as I wait for a PS5. Soma was only like 2 bucks! Damn that PS Store and it's crazy deals! The more you buy, the more you save!
Can’t wait was having fun until got to a main mission and it crashed. So I went to AC Valhalla until it’s fully patched then come back to it
@LordSteev No one should be on your 'buy day one, no questions asked' list.
@Fyz306903
You are probably right, the list grows shorter and shorter as time goes on. It used to include Bioware, Blizzard, CDPR, id, Raven, and Bethesda.
Now it's pretty much whittled down to id and Bethesda, (single player only) and no matter how buggy a Bethesda game is on release, they always end up being my favorites, so they get to stay on the list no matter how bad they release.
@WizzNL 🤣🤣
@Jimmer-jammer funding really doesn't seem like an issue. They haven't done a share offering and had literally no outstanding debt (short term or long term) until hitting up debt markets in Q1 2019. The last share offering was the IPO outside of some warrants issued in 2007 (and that's despite - prior to the share price falling in the wake of Cyberpunk - it having been Europe's top performing stock the past 10-15 years, usually the type of performance in which companies lacking funding do a secondary share offering to raise capital) and even the outstanding debt they now owe isn't for more than a couple million USD if I'm reading the numbers correctly.
You could still be correct, I'm just saying that doesn't have the appearance of a company lacking funding. It looks more like some of the founders and/or large shareholders got greedy, and pushed to release an overly ambitious project before it was ready and that probably should have been limited to PC's and next-gen consoles.
EDIT: they have no debt, I looked and it's a LT lease liability (not trying to go all finance nerd in the comments here, just making the point they really don't have any excuses other than greed and/or poor mgmt)
@MJ that’s very plausible and surely played a large part if not the whole part. We likely will never know. Clearly making bank was more important than the overall quality of their product, that much is sure.
Cheers!
@LordSteev @Jimmer-jammer Another enthusiastic recommendation here for Brothers: AToTS. Very unique, fulfilling, and moving experience.
@darksoul77 .....yeah but Terminator Resistance was utter crap. Like an old FPS from the late 90s that took like 3 hrs to finish
I'm sure people are already eager to see their next game a year a or so after its release... Nah, being human means you never learn, so people will still be surprised when they get a fully broken game.
Yeah I wont be pre-ordering anything from CDPR ever again.
“They keep delaying the game, CDPR are terrible, I’m gonna boycott the company!!!!”
one month later...
“The game isn’t finished and is full of bugs and crashes, CDPR are terrible - I’m gonna boycott the company!!!!!”
Yea I just wanna know when the witcher 3 ps5 upgrade is out.
