Slated to launch later this month, The Medium looks to be the first major horror release of 2021, tasking players with entering a world of ghostly entities and creepy mysteries. The title will be Bloober Team's first original project since its work on Blair Witch back in 2019, with the title slated to hit PC and Xbox consoles.

Players on PC are likely wondering what they can expect from The Medium when it comes to graphical fidelity, especially as the title looks to be benefiting significantly from the power of the Xbox Series X's enhanced SSD and visual capabilities. Luckily, a new trailer from Bloober Team highlights exactly what the game will be packing for non-console players utilizing Nvidia, with the footage showcasing the game running with RTX technology-enabled.

One of the biggest additions is ray-tracing, with the 70 seconds of footage highlighting life-like reflections on picture frames, marble flooring, and desks. Alongside that are what looks to be some enhanced lighting effects and a series of other significant graphical improvements, leading to stunning footage in both of The Medium's dual-reality environments. According to the description of the trailer, the game will utilize Nvidia DLSS, while it will also run Unreal Engine Version 4.25+. In short, it seems players on PC will be able to run a striking rendition of The Medium that equals that of its Xbox Series X counterpart.

As for the trailer itself, it showcases more of The Medium's dimension-shifting gameplay, focusing on protagonist Marianne navigating through both the worlds of the living and the dead. Along the way, she comes face to face with some of the game's monstrous entities, including a mysterious masked child known as Sadness and The Maw: a tall, slender, winged creature that will stalk Marianne through the depths of the spirit world.

For those who haven't been keeping up with Bloober Team's The Medium trailers, the story follows a spiritual medium investigating an eerie mystery that facilitates her using her abilities to traverse between dimensions. Players will have to solve puzzles, uncover secrets, and battle The Maw using Marianne's specific set of skills, with Bloober Team switching from its regular first-person perspective to a new third-person format. It looks to be the studio's most expansive and experimental game to date, with early footage insinuating players will be navigating through a frightening world where danger lurks around every corner. It'll be available for players on Game Pass later this month.

The Medium will be available on January 28 for PC and Xbox Series X.
