Monster Tale for the Nintendo DS is coming back. After being released in 2011, the cult-classic platformer will soon be getting a second life on the Nintendo Switch.

Monster Tale is a Metroid-like game that combines puzzle-platforming elements with pet-management. Protagonists Ellie and Chomp work together and learn new skills to rid Monster World of the Kid-Kings, who are spreading evil across the land. For Ellie, she wants to help the monsters become champions and find a way home.

Majesco Entertainment, publisher of the Sharknado video game and more recently Double Dragon: Neon on Nintendo Switch, announced today that the "whimsical adventure" Monster Tale is returning on the Nintendo Switch sometime in 2021 via a press release. Players can look forward to the 2D pixel art style and a look similar to what many should be familiar with from Saturday morning cartoons on TV.

Many may recall Monster Tale as one of the better Nintendo DS games, an especially interesting one to release so late in the life cycle of the handheld. The Nintendo 3DS released before Monster Tale did by a full month. For that reason, although Monster Tale is a beloved game for many, it is one that many others passed over. Hopefully, it being released on the Switch will allow it to get a second chance.

Monster Tale is currently in development for the Nintendo Switch with a 2021 release window.
