Shadowlands has expanded into World of Warcraft's afterlife, allowing players to visit the world of the dead and join forces with one of the Covenants. Down in the Shadowlands of the diverse world of Azeroth, there is also a lot of treasure to be found, including the Battlefront Rations lockbox.

Battlefront Rations Location

The Battlefront Rations lockbox is located in the heart of Maldraxxus, west of the Theatre of Pain. The box is located in the northmost section of the lake that is located there called Spearhead, at the southeast of the House of Constructs.

If players have stumbled on one of these treasure chests, they may have wondered how to open it. Unlike some of the more complicated locks in Shadowlands like the puzzle chests in Torghast, these chests are rather easy to get the key to.

The Key to the Lockbox

There are several ways to grab a key for this lockbox. It drops from several of World of Warcraft's Shadowlands enemies, but also can be purchased from a few vendors. The item is called the Battlefront Ration Key, and it's the only way to get at the loot inside of the Battlefront lockboxes.

Purchasing the Key

A vendor named Atticus sells their wares near the Seat of the Primus. This Maldraxxus zombie creature sells a collection of oddities, including a few companions for Anima, some questionable food products, the Nidore Ocularis which allows players to see scents, and the keys to the Battlefront Rations lockboxes.

Just north of this vendor is another who lives in the House of Pain. Abomination also sells these keys. From either vendor, the keys cost 1 gold.

Enemy Drops

If players are looking to get some of these Ration keys for free, they can also be dropped from several of the monsters that prowl the Afterlife setting of Maldraxxus. Players can nab a few of these keys from Thalrix the Slicer, Pilfer Bur'tok, and Grabber Ga'shock. All of these enemies range from level 51 to level 60.

Luckily, Grabber Ga'shocks are located in the same area as the chest, in Spearhead at the northernmost part of that lake. Thalrix the Slicer and Pilfer Bur'tok can both be found also in Spearhead, a little south of Grabber's location. Each of these undead enemies will drop a number of items, but all of them have a chance to drop one of the Battlefront Ration keys needed to get into the chests. Perhaps while in the area, hunter players can also grab an undead WoW hunter pet for themselves from the swamps of Maldraxxus.
