The addition of NPCs to Fortnite has been an interesting change in the way people play the game. There are forty NPCs currently on the map that are tied to quests and are used to trade for items. As a new feature, it's minimal, but it's a solid start. However, according to a leak, the role of NPCs may be expanded in a future update.

Epic Games tested the inclusion of NPCs in the game with mostly positive results. They certainly make Fortnite feel like a more dynamic, lived-in world. HypeX, who has a history of leaking content, recently posted something interesting on Twitter concerning these virtual denizens. According to them, more NPC services are being added in the future, such as the ability to buy loot from players or spawn a supply drop for gold. With these features, players would have more ways to make money and stock up on supplies if they are running low.

At this time, Epic Games has not confirmed this information, so no one should take it as gospel just yet. HypeX has been a reliable source of information before, however, so these changes have a possibility of coming to pass. For example, they accurately leaked the Halloween skins and emotes prior to the Fortnitemares event this year. The best option for players now is to let Epic Games know what they think of NPCs and suggest ways to improve upon them. If the developer sees positive feedback from the community, that can only help move things along.

The Mandolorian questline is a great example of how NPCs can enrich the game with interesting content. Players can still unlock Mando from the Season Pass and even dress up in his iconic Beskar armor. Once they are suited up, players can complete bounties from NPCs for experience points. The Mandolorian also appears as a Mythic Boss on the map. He's easy to track down, but it will take some skill to take down one of the galaxy's best bounty hunters. Doing so will reward players with his jetpack and Amban sniper rifle.

Aside from the Star Wars crossover, players are also enjoying the game's current holiday content, the Operation Snowdown event. The 2020 winter holiday event kicked off last week and is planning to run until January 5. During this time, there are loads of quests to complete and holiday cosmetics to earn. The rewards include the Shield Surprise Back Bling and Frosty Globes Pickaxe, as well as new and returning skins. No better way to get into the holiday spirit than by blasting opponents dressed as a candy cane. Additionally, players will find planes on the Fortnite map as part of the popular Air Royale LTM that is making its comeback.

Fortnite is free-to-play for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
