miHoYo studio director Zhenshong Yi has taken to the PlayStation Blog to inform the Genshin Impact community that the first map addition is coming to the game just in time for the holidays. Players will be able to dive into the Dragonspine content expansion starting December 23rd.
New content sees players traveling to a frozen mountain range that is considered “one of the most inhospitable areas in Teyvat”. Devs wrote the blog to give players a bit of a heads up about what they can expect when Dragonspine launches next week.
Here’s some of what lies ahead:
- new creatures, mysteries, treasures, and dangers
- the choice to explore Dragonspine with Albedo or alone
- Dragonspine is in a constant state of cold and gloom
- unique species to be found
- survival is key at first and players will need to learn to survive first
- Sheer Cold will affect players whether fighting, exploring, or standing still — ignoring it can lead to player death
- players will need to seek out heat sources to combat the effects of Sheer Cold
- players can ascend the tallest peak through the use of air currents
- hidden quests
- special ingredients, minerals, recipes, artifacts, and weapons
- The Chalk Prince and the Dragon seasonal quest for those at Adventure Rank 20
