Destiny 2's new Beyond Light expansion arrived in November, adding new powers, returning characters, new lore, new raids, and more. Players can even use Stasis powers in Iron Banner in Beyond Light, which has seen a mixed reaction. And while many other changes have been seen as positive, after some recent updates, players have encountered a new glitch with one of the Destiny 2 companion app's new features.

Typically, Destiny 2 players purchase bounties with glimmer in the game. Recently, Bungie added some new features to the companion app, such as purchasing bounties through it. However, a Reddit post revealed some players ran into a glimmer glitch while doing so. Some lost glimmer by the thousands, a lot more than they regularly should.

The post came from Reddit user shaxxs_sweetheart, who encountered the glitch when they tried to buy some Iron Banner bounties from the Destiny 2 app. The player had 150k glimmer in their possession before making the purchase, but after buying 4-5 bounties — normally close to 5,000 glimmer — the glitch dropped their glimmer straight to -1,823 on the app. As a result, their guardian had 177 glimmer in the game, instead of the thousands they previously had.

User shaxxs_sweetheart isn't the only player to chime in on this, as plenty of other Destiny 2 players commented on encountering the glitch on the app. User starkillerzx said they spent 100K glimmer on 5 bounties, while user Meiie's 200K glimmer dropped to 50K glimmer after purchasing a few bounties on the app. This issue has discouraged other commenters from purchasing bounties on the app.

As the post went on, user MtnDewX tagged in Bungie's lead API developer, sassy_warsat, into the post to inform them of the issue. The developer thanked MtnDewX for bringing the issue to their attention and said if there had been "scaled automation" against the feature, then the issue could've affected many more players. However, they admitted fixing bugs in Destiny is harder without narrowing down the code that's used.

At the time of this reporting, sassy_warsat has commented that the incidence of this glitch appears to be low. However, they advised any other players and commenters to reach out to Bungie Help to gather more statistics on this glitch's occurrence in the Destiny app. They went on to suggest it could be a display bug but players should verify their glimmer currency in the game to be sure.

The official Destiny Companion app developer, HelloControl, tagged in as well. HelloControl asked players to provide several things to help nail down the issue, including screenshots, screen recordings, device brand, operating system or browser version, app version number, their Destiny account number, and steps to reproduce the glitch. Shaxxs_sweetheart and a few others provided some details for them in the post.

Currently, the glimmer glitch in the Destiny 2 Companion App hasn't affected too many players, and Bungie devs are already on it.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
