When Phasmophobia suddenly and unexpectedly blew up on Twitch, fans were enraptured by the simple yet compelling design of this cooperative ghost hunting game. While many took whatever chance they could get to praise the developer and support him in whatever ways they could, there was a common feeling that the game lacked in variety. Seven maps divided into three categories was enough to hold fans over for a while, but many wanted to see the game grow and get more maps.

The newest update to Phasmophobia answers that call, adding a new prison map to the game's beta build. This map is medium in size, making it the second medium map in the game alongside Brownstone High School, and features a small bit of lore surrounding the prison as well.

According to the blurb about this new map, the prison was recently shut down after a string of unexplainable deaths. No one knows what caused the deaths or even their exact nature, but there's reason to believe it could be related to a possible haunting in the area. Like other maps in Phasmophobia, players are tasked with entering the site and gathering as much evidence as possible for the ghost removal team.

New Phasmophobia prison map

This new prison level is only available as part of the beta build on Steam, so players enjoying the current version of the game will not be able to access it. In order to play the beta, simply go to the Steam library, right click on the game, select properties, and enable the beta build.

Phasmophobia is available now on PC.
