While Halo Infinite details are still very slim coming off its controversial showing at the Xbox Games Showcase this past July, developer 343 Industries recently updated fans on when to expect the next information drop for the upcoming Xbox Series X/S exclusive. Despite this, rumors have been floating around in the community since July, and a new rumor claims that Halo Infinite is not only receiving a battle royale mode, but also when to expect the game's release.

While updating the fans on when to expect the next Halo Infinite community update, 343 Industries confirmed that Halo Infinite will not be present at The Game Awards. Despite this, the developer claims that more information on the game is coming very soon, which some fans expect to be in early 2021.

The newest rumor stirring up the Halo community claims that 343 Industries is planning to release Halo Infinite between March and June 2021. The rumor also claims that the current iteration of Halo Infinite began development in early 2017, over a year before the game was revealed at Microsoft's E3 2018 event. Furthermore, it also claims that the game's ending will have "a major effect on the future of the franchise going forward."

While the game's ending may leave major implications for the future of the Halo franchise, 343 Industries has claimed that it intends Halo Infinite to be an ongoing platform that it will support for up to 10 years, with no plans for any sequels to the game for within that period. This rumor tackles that, mentioning that the developer will release narrative-based "chapters" within the decade, as well as two spin-off games based on the events of Halo Infinite, one of which could possibly be Halo Wars 3.

Finally, the rumor claims that Halo Infinite will receive a battle royale mode in 2021, however this mode will not be developed by 343 Industries. This matches up with 343's claims that it is not developing a Halo Infinite battle royale mode. Apparently, the Halo Infinite battle royale is being developed elsewhere, with the mode set to be free-to-play and supporting up to 120 frames per second on Xbox Series X. The source claims that 343's engine, Slipspace, will also be updated multiple times during the 2020s.

While all of this certainly sounds ambitious, it is easy to believe given that Halo is Microsoft's flagship franchise, with many multi-media spin-offs already fleshing out the world in an ongoing format. It is importantly worth noting that this information comes from an anonymous source, however, some of these claims match up with plans 343 Industries has made clear throughout 2020.

Halo Infinite will release for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.
