With Cyberpunk 2077 less than two weeks out from release, not much is left to be revealed for CD Projekt Red's highly anticipated open-world RPG. The studio has done a good job at keeping fans engaged during the game's development with blog posts and Night City Wire presentations, however, while we have recently gotten our first look at Cyberpunk 2077 running on consoles, we still have no footage showing how the game will perform on the base PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. According to CD Projekt Red's Adam Kaciński, fans don't have anything to worry about.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally announced in May 2012, however, serious development on the title only began in 2016 following the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's Blood and Wine expansion. During this period, the only confirmed platform for Cyberpunk 2077's release was PC, which is where CD Projekt Red has historically prioritized development, though the developer announced at E3 2018 that the title would also release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Since then, CD Projekt Red has continued to demonstrate the technical advancements being made in Cyberpunk 2077, leading many to believe the game will struggle to perform well on Sony and Microsoft's 2013 hardware.

During an investors meeting earlier this week, CD Projekt Red's joint CEO Adam Kaciński commented on the status of the current-generation ports, which were much of the reason behind the game's most recent delay from November 19th to December 10th. Commenting on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One's performance, Kaciński claimed they were "surprisingly good, I would say, for such a huge world." He did note that the performance on these versions is weaker than on the PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X versions.

Just earlier this week, CD Projekt Red released footage of Cyberpunk 2077 running on PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 5 through the console's backwards compatibility functionality, following leaked footage of the port surfacing as a result of a copy being sold more than 2 weeks ahead of the game's release. Just a week earlier, CD Projekt Red released footage of Cyberpunk 2077 running on the Xbox One X and Xbox Series X (also through backwards compatibility), which featured some noticeable frame-rate dips on the Xbox One X version at points. The company has yet to release any footage of the game running on the lower-end systems.

While the game will see improved performance on the next-generation systems at launch, Cyberpunk 2077 will receive fully optimized updates for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, along with the studio's previous title The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, at some point in 2021. Until then, CD Projekt Red claims the game will feature "targeted enhancements," likely attributed to enhanced loading times and finer performance native to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S hardware.

Cyberpunk 2077 will release on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One on December 10th, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
