November 23 marks the last day of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 6 Battle Pass. With the recent release of a new CoD title, there may be speculation that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's days are numbered.

The game, by longtime Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward, serves as a soft reboot to its Modern Warfare series. Although the title has been generally praised over the past year, the most recent Call of Duty: Modern Warfare update is a disappointment to fans.

Modern Warfare fans will be pleased to know that, despite the end of Season 6, more content is indeed coming. Infinity Ward Lead Multiplayer VFX Artist Reed Shingledecker confirmed the news when responding to a player's question on Twitter. While it does confirm more content, it remains unclear if it will be a Season 7 or something else. The uncertainty may be due to Modern Warfare and Warzone's seasonal leveling system integration with Black Ops Cold War, which goes live on December 10. Modern Warfare multiplayer players can continue increasing their overall player rank and accessing the new seasonal prestige system. In addition, they can also contribute to the Battle Pass for Black Ops Cold War and Warzone. However, the content unlocked won't be usable in Modern Warfare.

Although it's not clear when or what the new content will be, the game continues to be extremely popular. According to Activision-Blizzard, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is the best selling game in the franchise, selling over 30 million copies in its first year. Activision has yet to officially announce any future plans for the game. Shingledecker is with the gaming community, hoping for an official update so players "know what's going on."

It's great to see continued support for a Call of Duty title, especially after the release of a newer one. The exact type of content coming to the title is currently unknown, but a recent discovery of a strange, untextured pistol may hold a clue. Hopefully, this will be a trend Activision continues going forward.

The annual Call of Duty release usually means alternating developers, and therefore a different feel to each game. Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has been lauded for its innovative campaign. However, it has fans split on its more arcade-like multiplayer. Luckily, for those who prefer Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's style, the game is rumored to get a sequel in 2021.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available on PC, Ps4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
