Borderlands 3 is over a year old, yet Gearbox continues to offer broad support for the looter shooter. With the holidays starting and Black Friday around the corner, Gearbox has deigned to offer a rewarding Mini-Event to coincide. Borderlands 3 players new and old that decide to revisit some of the game's campaign missions will discover Legendary prizes. Starting on November 19, Borderlands 3's Golden Path Mini-Event will start giving out free Legendary rewards to players.

The premise for the Golden Path Mini-Event is simple enough. Gearbox wants to encourage more players to progress through Borderlands 3's campaign missions. As Gearbox is wont to do, it's encouraging players with increased rewards. Select main missions in the base Borderlands 3 campaign will provide guaranteed Legendary rewards. As such, first-time players will have an incredible arsenal of Legendary gear simply by focusing on Borderlands 3's "Golden Path" of story missions.

Unfortunately, the rewards are limited to this Golden Path of missions and don't expand outside of them in any way. That means that all of Borderlands 3's base game side missions won't have extra rewards. The rewards won't expand into Borderlands 3's DLC content or premium expansions, either. Gearbox apparently sees playing this content as rewarding enough as it stands, or at least wants to focus on encouraging players who have yet to complete the main campaign.

It's easy to see why this Mini-Event has a lot of value. Black Friday is quickly approaching and a majority of video game storefronts will have big sales on games like Borderlands 3. There will be a lot of new players, a lot of those who bought Borderlands 3 on a whim. Getting those players invested with Legendary rewards as fast as possible, where otherwise they might play a few levels and then never come back, is a lucrative goal.

Gearbox does list some Legendary weapons in its announcement of the Golden Path Mini-Event. It's unclear if these are guaranteed drops, or just a list of weapons that could drop randomly. The items include the Lyuda Legendary Vladof Sniper Rifle, the Handsome Jackhammer Legendary Hyperion SMG, the Nemesis Legendary Dahl Pistol, and the Hellwalker Legendary Jakobs Shotgun, with others confirmed, as well.

The Borderlands 3 Golden Path Mini-Event will run from November 19 through December 3, giving new and returning players two weeks to get their extra Legendary rewards. After the Golden Path's conclusion, Gearbox all but certainly has another Mini-Event that's friendly to new players starting in December.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
