With recent reports citing that Marvel's Avengers' playerbase is rapidly dropping as the months press on, it seems the team over at Crystal Dynamics has been hard at work ensuring the Kate Bishop DLC launches before the end of the year. Adding a new playable hero and a series of fresh missions, the additional content looks to be the first of many substantial updates coming to the game, with the studio believing it will bring back players who have lost interest in Marvel's Avengers in the past few months.

Thanks to a new War Table stream, fans now know exactly when they'll get to play as Kate Bishopwith the broadcast confirming the hero will arrive on December 8. Alongside the announcement, the stream also unveiled a few new details about Bishop's slice of story content, including a synopsis and look at the new interpretation of the iconic character.

Revealed in a high-octane trailer, Bishop's story arc will see her attempting to track down her former mentor, Hawkeye, with the adventure seeing her join up with The Avengers for help. It won't be as simple as just finding the notorious superhero, however, with Bishop being forced to travel back in time in an effort to bring him home. According to the stream, the adventure will feature a number of notable faces from the Marvel universe, with Nick Fury somehow involved and a new villain slotting into the role of lead-antagonist.

That villain is the Super Adaptoid: a classic Marvel foe with the ability to mimic the powers of its opponents. According to War Table stream, it will have access to all of the Avengers powers, meaning it'll be a deadly enemy to face off against during the fresh offering of quests. It seems the end of the original Marvel's Avengers campaign will factor in as well, with the broadcast teasing that the new leader of AIM will be involved in Bishop's story arc.

There's also a ton of gameplay for the hero during the War Table broadcast, showing off her various skills and abilities. Of course, fans know that Bishop is far from the only character slated to come to Marvel's Avengers. Hawkeye himself will allegedly hit the game at a later date, while the team has also confirmed Spider-Man as PlayStation exclusive DLC and teased Black Panther's integration into its take on the Avengers initiative. As for now though, Bishop will be debuting for Marvel's Avengers players in just under 3 weeks' time.

Marvel's Avengers is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One. It will release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2021.
