Having a powerful weapon is the first step towards victory in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. As weapon balances shift the meta, old favorites often rise to the top allowing fans alternative gun choices in the ever-growing conflict. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's AUG is an underrated choice that can become extremely powerful with the right attachment build.

While the AUG has appeared in several titles, its burst fire design and high damage have always been a point of discussion. Occasionally, the AUG will find itself in a Call of Duty Meta, but generally, the weapon is considered second-tier due to its burst-fire standard. Still, in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War this weapon has a hidden potential that is only now being discovered.

The AUG in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a Tactical Rifle that retains its standard burst-fire setting. This gives the weapon a fast fire-rate and high damage allowing it to kill players in one burst at most ranges. The goal of this build is to maximize its potential in multiple situations, but players will need the Gunfighter Wildcard equipped to make it work. Eight attachments are needed to optimize this weapon, and any less could sacrifice some much-needed range and damage.

  • Magazine  - 45 Round Drum

As with most of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War's burst weapons, the goal is to maximize the one-burst kill potential. This means that a majority of the attachments are meant to increase the fire rate and accuracy of the weapon.

Starting from the top, the optic is really a point of preference for the user. Players should feel free to change this out for any scope that they are comfortable with. The 45 Round Drum is also a preferred choice as it could be swapped for faster reloads depending on the situation. In most games, more ammo is better, so Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players tend to use the 45 Round Drum.

The SOCOM Eliminator and Field Agent Foregrip will help reduce recoil. This keeps burst shots accurate and gives a rather big reduction to vertical recoil. This means that all shots will hit the target in a single burst allowing it to maximize its kill output.

The 18" Rapid Fire barrel will increase the gun's fire rate, allowing for a second burst if needed to finish a target. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players will find that the Ember Sighting Point flashlight gives a good boost to long and close-range situations by increasing hip-fire accuracy by 30%. The rest of the attachments prioritize speed and ADS times. This makes the weapon snappy and can help respond to instant sniper glints with a fast ADS speed.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is available on PC, Ps4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
