Ubisoft claims that Assassin's Creed Valhalla is its biggest PC launch ever

French publishing giant Ubisoft has reported that the recently-launched Assassin's Creed Valhalla is its biggest launch on PC to date.

The firm has also said that the game sold more games in its first week on sale than any other entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise so far.

“We are truly delighted by the enthusiastic response from players and want to thank the fans for their incredible support. Delivering this game amid a global pandemic was a true tour de force by our teams and it’s fantastic to see players enjoying the game so much,” Valhalla's producer Julien Laferrière said.

“Launch is only the beginning and we have robust content plans for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla that will keep players immersed in their epic Viking saga for a long time to come.”

Last week, Ubisoft said that Valhalla had seen twice the number of players on launch as its 2018 predecessor, Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Valhalla was released on November 10th for PC, Microsoft's new Xbox Series X and S consoles, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Google's Stadia streaming service.

Earlier in the year, Ubisoft fired the creative director of Assassin's Creed, Ashraf Ismail, as part of an internal investigation into misconduct by its staff. This followed the developer stepping away from the project after it was revealed he had been engaged in an affair with a fan and had hidden the fact he was married from her.
