Last month, Pokemon GO featured a Limited Research day for Alolan Meowth, and also offered encounters for the Kanto version of Meowth. If players were not satisfied with catching the famous Pokemon associated with Team Rocket, there will be another chance to catch as many Meowths as possible. A Kanto Meowth Spotlight Hour will run today from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time.

Although Spotlight Hours do not increase shiny rates, this is a great opportunity to find a shiny Meowth. However, some may overlook the shiny version because of the subtle changes. A shiny Kanto Meowth appears with a darker body and dark pink toes and ears instead of the normal brown color. If catching a shiny Meowth is not at the top of the to-do list in Pokemon GO, the Spotlight Hour also grants double catch candy.

The Spotlight Hour intersects the Meltan event that started today at 8 a.m local time and will run until 10 p.m. on November 23rd. The event will give players chances to encounter Meltans with a chance for shinies by activating a Mystery Box. The Mystery Box item can be earned by trading a Pokemon to a Pokemon, Let's Go game, or by completing a Meltan research. Players can use the Spotlight Hour to use Mystery Boxes to spawn Meltans and earn double catch Candy, which is extremely important for Meltan because evolution requires a whopping 400 candy.

The Meowth Spotlight Hour has many opportunities for players to evolve a Pokemon or find a shiny one. If players already have a shiny Meowth, the double catch candy will make evolving it into a shiny Persian easier. Although Meowth is a fairly common Pokemon, the Spotlight Hour double catch candy will be helpful given the many events and days planned for November and December.

If players missed out on the last Community Day, there is still one remaining in November. The next Community Day is on November 21st and features the fire-type Pokemon Magmar. During this Community Day, Magmar can evolve and will learn the special move Thunderbolt.

About a week ago, Pokemon GO announced full connectivity with Pokemon Home, meaning players can transfer Pokemon from Pokemon GO to the latest Pokemon games Sword and Shield. Full connectivity between the apps also came with a free Melmetal capable of gigamaxing. There are many more events coming up for Pokemon GO, so players can plan their days and maximize the rewards they can earn.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
