Fans of Stardew Valley have been waiting patiently for the game’s creator, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, to release the next update for the popular farming sim. Since February, Barone has been teasing the endgame content that Stardew Valley’s free 1.5 update will bring, offering small glimpses of what’s to come.

It’s still not entirely clear when the update will be out, but Barone’s latest progress update suggests it won’t be too much longer. In a Twitter post today, he confirmed that version 1.5 is finally in the “home stretch” of development, but says that there’s still plenty of work to do polishing it up and fixing bugs before it’s ready. He then reminded fans that “it’s a very big update” and added that he thinks they will be “really happy and surprised” with all of the new content coming to Stardew Valley in the near future.

Barone has only hinted at a few of version 1.5’s new features at this time, but he has confirmed a few things. Namely, the update will add split-screen co-op to Stardew Valley and the ability to grow bananas, as well as quality-of-life improvements like being able to sit on furniture and rearrange the player’s bed. Also, in response to a question on his Twitter post, he revealed that the update will lean more on late-game content, but will also feature some new options for new games that “might make a fresh run worthwhile.”

While Barone continues plugging away at the next update, he has confirmed that he has other projects in development, including a non-farming game set in the world of Stardew Valley. Furthermore, while his focus with the farming sim is currently on version 1.5, he recently stated that a Stardew Valley 2 could eventually happen once the update is finished.

Stardew Valley is available for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
