Every decision matters in Detroit: Become Human, be it a call to action or standing by silently. With many branching paths, Markus' dynamic role in Detroit's android community has potential for revolution, subjugation, and much in between. Rise up and lead an army or bow down before the humans? Fight or flee? Live or die?

These are all questions the player will ask themselves in Detroit: Become Human. Going from caring assistant to pariah is a journey involving many steps. Each one forces the player to determine not only what is best for Markus, but for Detroit and all androids. Not all choices will result in glory. However, the following decisions are easily the best of the bunch for this android revolutionary.

Updated August 11, 2022 by Ritwik Mitra: Detroit: Become Human is a narrative adventure made by Quantic Dream with David Cage at the helm. The story of androids gaining sentience and demanding their freedom is a pretty engaging one, and it's easy to see why players were so deeply engaged with the narrative of this game. Markus is one of the three playable characters whom players can control, and here are the best decisions that players can make for this character.

10 Sending A Message Of Peace

Markus as an android in Detroit Become Human

Public opinion for the androids should generally be high for players to access the happier endings in the game. So, when players successfully infiltrate Stratford Tower and send a message, it should be a nuanced one.

Markus should definitely talk about peace and fostering a discussion instead of outright declaring his violence on the air. The former will go a long way in shifting public opinion on the side of the disgruntled androids.

9 Refusing Perkins' Deal

Detroit Become Human FBI Agent Perkins

Near the end of the game, Perkins will try and give Markus a deal to end the conflict between the humans and androids. No matter what happens, players need to vehemently refuse the offer. Accepting it leads to Perkins betraying and killing all the androids, including Markus himself. To be fair, this decision is pretty obvious given how despicable Perkins' character has been in the game.

8 Peacefully Infiltrating The Stratford Tower

During the infiltration into Stratford Tower, players have the choice to either be violent or non-lethal in their approach. It goes without saying that the latter is the more ideal approach by a country mile.

This peaceful infiltration will lead to less hate against the androids in the long run, which is something that most players would ideally prefer. The game offers enough avenues for players to get into the tower without having to use lethal force, so it shouldn't be all that hard anyway.

7 Sparing The Two Police Officers During The Capitol Park Riots

The Capitol Park riots mark a turning point in the story of Detroit: Become Human. It shows the androids finally standing up for themselves in the fight for a better life.

The end of these riots sees the androids abducting two police officers who were trying to stop the revolution. No matter what, Markus should always try and save these officers to benefit the movement in the long run.

6 Not Detonating The Dirty Bomb

Markus And North in Detroit Become Human

Near the end of the game, North will give Markus the opportunity to use a detonator that will trigger a dirty bomb and deal significant damage to the entire city of Detroit. Suffice to say, this is a horrible decision that Markus should never make, no matter what.

Players can outright refuse to even take the detonator from North for this bomb. In the event that they do take it, players should avoid exploding the bomb at all costs to prevent unnecessary collateral damage.

5 Standing Ground At The Freedom March

Markus from Detroit Become Human

To the player, this may seem like a lack of action, or like taking a beating for no reason, but this is far from the truth. Violence against the police will cause a battle to ensue, while running will lead to a loss of respect in the eyes of all humans and androids.

But standing ground will not only allow Markus to retain the respect of all but will minimize life lost due to police brutality.

4 Kissing North

All of the dialogue options with North allow the character to further understand Markus' emotional state and will enable him to grow as a character and as a person. For being a person is not about metal versus flesh, but about the choices one makes.

Choosing to connect to another being with a sentiment like love shows that androids are more than just appliances. That they are complex, thinking, feeling organisms that aren't so different from humans.

3 Putting Leo In His Place

Make Leo Leave in Detroit Become Human

Telling Leo to take a hike will escalate the conflict, resulting in Leo getting injured and forcing Markus to flee his home. Initially, this seems like less than the ideal option, but late in the game, this makes a significant difference.

Shoving Leo will keep Carl alive, and this will allow him to give Markus, and the player, important advice regarding how to proceed with the final part of the game. There is also an emotional element to Markus' and Carl's reunion that makes the coming climax of the story feel more satisfying.

2 Trusting Connor

Markus and Connor in Detroit Become Human

Giving Connor a chance to redeem himself represents why androids in this game can be better people than humans. Forgiveness and trust are sentiments, like love, that display greater thought, feeling, and purpose of an individual. Though, trusting Connor is not simply a decision to make on an altruistic whim.

When free and given a chance to do good, Connor will head to the CyberLife Tower for one of his own story segments where he has the potential to free hundreds of androids. This would bolster the androids' forces and liberate those enslaved by humans.

1 Demonstration

Giving peace a chance is a tough decision to make. Much loss, tragedy, and sacrifice are required, which may leave a bitter taste in a player's mouth, but it is all for the greater good. Markus, and his android followers, have a chance to show the world their true strength by singing in the face of death.

Their dignity will inspire awe in the public and convince the president to call off the army. By taking the high road, the player can direct Markus into giving everyone hope for a unified future. One where androids are classified as intelligent life and potentially treated as the people they are.
