Who doesn't love waking up on a Wednesday morning to the sound of PlayStation 4 titles begging you for their attention as prices are slashed across the globe? It's an almost weekly ritual here at Push Square (save for the times when there isn't a new sale) and today we have a long, long list of games you should probably consider picking up before the PlayStation 5 rolls around. This gigantic PS Store indies sale is live now across EU and the US, with availability lasting through until midnight on 21st November 2020. So, without further ado, let's take a look at what we've got in the latest PlayStation Store sale.
Celeste is on sale for the very first time since November 2018 (!!!), coming in at just £6.39/$7.99, the outstanding Return of the Obra Dinn is £11.39/$11.99, and fan favourite Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition drops to £12.59/$17.49. There's also John Wick Hex at £10.39/$12.99, the recent Spelunky 2 is already down to £12.79/$15.99, and Tetris Effect can be bought for £17.49/$19.99. You can also get the lovely Arise: A Simple Story at a discounted price of £9.59/$11.99, Cat Quest II is £7.19/$8.99, the excellent Creaks can be copped for £11.19/$13.99, and Creature in the Well is just £5.99/$8.99.
As for the bargain prices, we've got Adr1ft for £3.99/$4.99, Amnesia: Collection at £2.63/$2.99, Bomber Crew is £2.39/$3.74, and Crypt of the Necrodancer is £2.59/$2.99. There's also Dear Esther: Landmark Edition for £2.15/$2.49, Inside is a bargain at £3.67/$4.59, and Nex Machina is £2.71/$3.39. There's so, so much more where that came from though. As usual, the PlayStation Blog post detailing this sale isn't live at the time of writing and neither is the sale page itself. However, you can check out every PS4 game part of this particular sale through the link.
If nothing takes your fancy though, don't forget that the PlayStation Store Planet of the Discounts sale and another slate of discounts are both still live. What PS4 games will you be picking up? Share your digital haul in the comments below.

For anyone who hasn't played Celeste - this game is an absolute masterpiece and worth any price it's given, at 6 quid it's a steal! Get it!
I've been interested in many of those games: Obra Dinn, Kentucky Route Zero, Tetris Effect and Spelunky 2, but I'm a bit short on money at the moment so will have to resist the temptation!
I got myself Slay The Spire, Inside and Children Of Morta - taking discounted PSN credit into account, it came to less than £20 for all three. Love these bargain indie games
Gonna buy Return of the Obra Dinn and Celeste
These aren’t really that cheap compared to other sales though. Also, these are just the type of games I expect to come to PS Now shortly after sales...
Ironic that Obra Dinn is finally discounted after the recent news.
I bought Spelunky 2, Loved the first with the missus.
Not more sales!
Anyone feeling all these sales are a trap? Buy these PS4 games cheap only to find they don't work on PS5 properly.
@Thesnipergecko Nope. Not a trap, imo. You can still play them on a ps4, unless you plan on selling your ps4.
@naruball Why would you want to keep your PS4 when you've just splashed out £450 on a PS5? I don't know why Sony can't ensure that all PS4 games work on the new console. I mean, how hard is it, really? It's purely greed - they know that they can make more money by reissues and PS Now subs.
@tomassi they've confirmed virtually all games do work on a PS5, so this is a non-issue.
@tomassi @naruball I keep all my consoles. I'm a console hoarder. I still have my PS1, 2, 3 and I'm keeping my PS4 Pro.
About time that Obra Dinn gets on a ps sale.
@GamingFiend bet they don't. I mean, if a game as big as Assassins Creed Syndicate may have issues, I can guarantee half of these three quid games in this sale won't work.
@Thesnipergecko I guess you have to with Sony not liking BC. If they're not going to bother with the older generations they should really spend big on PS Now and make it a true Spotify/Netflix service that will allow you to play all games from PS1, 2, 3 and 4 on the PS5. That would be epic!
I'm just going to reiterate I absolutely LOATH the new store, it's a terrible user experience. I say that as a veteran user interface designer, it actively makes me NOT want to go and look for things to buy. Whoever signed this off?
Issue include but are not limited to:
Another designer/developer did a good write up on many of the problems calling is "The Biggest UX failure of 2020" I'd have to agree.
https://dev.to/rtivital/playstation-store-redesign-the-biggest-ux-failure-of-2020-4g97
Can pushsquare not push Sony for a comment on the store? Are they even listening? It's a mess.
@tomassi not everyone will buy a ps5 launch, obviously. Only a small percentage. And you don't buy a new console to play old games. Hence the huge success of the ps4 and the fact that the ps3 took off after it removed BC and cost less.
@Robinsad it sure is. They can't help but hire some incredibly incompetent people.
@thefourfoldroot
If you dont think this is cheap. That makes me think you are cheap.
@naruball I disagree. I want to play old AND new games on my £400 console. Without having to have an extra console under the TV. I suspect most people with any sort of backlog on PS4 would agree.
@tomassi my purchase is almost exclusively about old games at the moment and seeing their improved performance
@Flaming_Kaiser
? What a strange attempt at an insult.
why on earth people try to spread FUD on anything on here, especially when it's to do with digital, is very weird.
anyway, I'm just gonna put those people who do it on instant ignore, can't be bothered with reading such comments.
onwards and upwards!
@themightyant The PS Store has taken all the fun out of sales for me, and genuinely stopped me picking up a few purchases. It does almost nothing you want a store to do.
I'm quite confused how Sony ended up with something that has so much less features than what they already had. I hope they've got a lot more improvements to come
@tomassi
I’m keeping my PS4 to store and run games that aren’t likely to benefit much from PS5 boost mode, plus probably run media apps (I always think the longer a device runs the more of its useful life I’m eating through lol). But the few PS4 games I haven’t played and would benefit I’ll still play in PS5 (games like days gone).
Plus I might start streaming PS3 games on now given ps5 has a WiFi 6 antenna with 5hz and so the slight hitches I see now that put me off could be eradicated (I have a base PS4 so restricted to 2.4hz with a lot of competing devices).
Dust of the North Star at £9.59 is a good deal. £8 if bought physically and traded back, but the extra £1.59 to save the trip snd support the devs is acceptable.
Problem is, will all PS4 games drop in price after the PS5 release?
@thefourfoldroot but if you can (supposedly) play most of your PS4 games on a PS5, why would you keep the PS4? It's just more room taken up. IMO its better to have EVERYTHING under one roof. An all in one entertainment experience. I don't want to have to switch leads, discs, change channels etc. That's why it's important to me that Sony gets the BC thing correct. I just want to buy a PS5 (I'd wait but my son wants it!) and be able to play new and old games seamlessly, all of them!
@tomassi
Not sure what you mean. I don’t lack for space, the PS4 isn’t big, so space saving doesn’t matter for me. My sources auto switch whenever I turn my PS4 or switch or satellite tv on snd I certainly don’t have to switch leads every time! As I said, I can store a load of PS4 games on its hard drive rather than taking up ps5 SSD space (I’m talking JRPGs, indie games, PSVR game etc, I.e. games without long loading times and which likely won’t get updates). As for changing discs...I’ll have to change discs less if I have the two consoles with two disc drives.
Plus it means I can play PS4 / PSVR while the wife is playing PS5 or Vice Versa.
Of course, if someone really needs to save space or cash then selling the PS4 is easily done and 99.9% of PS4 games will play on PS5, just like any BC system.
Timespinner for me i think and maybe Celeste too.
@GamingFiend Slay the Spire is one of my favourite games of all time. Children of Morta is brilliant too.
I'm having Dear Esther at that price
Cool, guess I’ll check out my long wish list, then. Oh, wait...
My dearly departed wishlist would have loved this sale... Farewell old friend...
@Rob_230 I just saw that! At last the cursed EU/AU PSN finally has relented!! Can't wait to buy Timespinner!
Sadly no Blazing Chrome,Cursed Castilla,Super Hydorah,Battle Princess Madelyn, Shantae Pirates Curse/H.G.H.,River City Girls,or Xeno Crisis but excited to see Timespinner,long overdue!
@Gremio108 Dear Esther is still brilliant so many years later. Great story, music and atmosphere. I was amazed to still be so astounded by some of the visuals though. The cave may still be, almost a decade later, the most visually impressive and atmospheric cave in a video game.
I can’t find this sale anywhere, just checked now? Maybe it will update later today
@naruball "And you don't buy a new console to play old games."
I guess we're all different.
One of the things i'm most excited about next-gen is playing a huge number of my existing games with improved graphics, performance and most importantly cutting load times. I have both next-gen consoles ordered but no next gen games yet. (Though I have Game Pass and might order Miles Morales Ult or Demon's Souls... but not for £70)
I refuse to buy anything as long as the store is in its current state. No wishlist, no sorting, no names OR prices on the game list page. Total garbage.
Anyone else thinking all of these sales may just be to make my backlog so big I have no choice but to stick with Sony for the next gen? (Was gonna anyhow so just saying)... think I`'ll be picking up Hotshot racing and jydge at those prices.
Also trying not to be tempted to buy a couple of cheap platinum on games that seemingly exist for little other reason
Legit bought celeste a week ago ,still very good game so I amn't too salty
@Robocod Its been crazy hasn't it. I think its been 2 years without a sale. At least 1 more game for my vita 😁
I am actually playing Shantae HGH at the moment. Really enjoyable title. Hope it goes on sale for you soon. I'm waiting on pirates curse too!
I tried Nex Machina some time back even though I was hesitant to because I was worried it might be too hard and boy am I glad I did, some of the most fast paced action packed fun I have had in a long time I think only rivaled by Doom Eternal.
@tomassi
They've tested basically every game on PS4 and other than like ten games, all of them work as intended
@themightyant Yeah I like the look of it and I've been meaning to play it pretty much all gen.
I reckon Push Square could easily get an article out of the Top Ten Most Atmospheric Caves On PS4
Well that’s more like it! Shame I’ve already spent £200 on Fortnite skins/gear for myself and two Nephews already this month 😫 I used to think their Lego hobby was expensive 👀 damn Ghostbusters skins...
The new store is a piece of *****. It doesn't show the games in the indies sales when I click on it and I see plenty of full price games when I click on deals. That's ridiculous.
Finally a sale with a lot of rarely seen deals! Also, Vita deals!
Noteworthy games I got with at least 75% off:
Crossing souls
Tesla vs Lovecraft
Crypt of the necrodancer
Momodora: reverie under the moomlight
Jydge
Splasher
Chroma Squad
Phantom doctrine (with ps plus)
Snake pass
Amnesia collection
Inside
Astebreed
Steredenn
Talos principle
There's dozen more I already have. I highly suggest you filter with psprice.
@Rob_230 Good stuff to hear mate! Been curious about the Shantae games after coming across them via certain indie dev artists on twitter. Been sounding like Half Genie Hero/Pirates Curse ones were the best introduction to the series. Will be keeping a watch!
@Wormold Fantastic game. Basically Commandos but set in Japan. The level design is fantastic and there are a lot of different ways to approach an objective. Bonus objectives and higher difficuly mean it also has replayability. Can highly recommend, especially for this price.
@PegasusActual93 cool, I'll hold them to that and can't wait to not be disappointed!
