Actor Mark Wahlberg may have just provided a new look at the upcoming Uncharted film on his Instagram account. Specifically, Wahlberg appears to be acting in character as Nathan Drake's mentor Sully, complete with the character's signature mustache.

Although the upcoming Uncharted film has experienced a string of delays over the last decade, information about the film is finally beginning to emerge. Last week, fans got their first look at Tom Holland in costume as Nathan Drake. Naturally, this has led to increased interest in seeing reveals for the rest of the main cast, along with the story that the film will tell. Fans are especially excited for the reveal of one of Uncharted's most beloved characters, Victor "Sully" Sullivan, Drake's longtime mentor and associate.

Although Wahlberg's Instagram post includes no text, many commentators are quick to tie the post with the Uncharted movie, and it's not hard to see why. The post shows him with a mustache very much like Sully's. He then tells the viewer "don't ask," in an exasperated voice that also very much resembles Sully's. Fans know that Tom Holland fully supports Wahlberg's casting, and this might be Wahlberg's first effort to win over the fanbase, as well.

Wahlberg's mustache certainly doesn't look like the silver color Sully fans know, but this actually makes it more likely this is for the film. The film will serve as a prequel to the Uncharted games, and therefore, Sully will be much younger. Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception fans will remember a flashback to the moment when Drake first met Sully. That younger version of Sully has a brown-black mustache that is effectively identical to Wahlberg's.

That said, there is a reason why this could be unrelated to Sully. For one, eyewitness reports from the Uncharted filming indicate Wahlberg did not have a mustache. Of course, eyewitness reports only cover a few scenes from the film, and it is possible Wahlberg's Sully does have a mustache in most other scenes. On the other hand, the film could distance itself from the games to avoid direct comparisons, and one way to do that is to remove Sully's mustache altogether.

Given that the film will be coming out next summer, Sony will need to reveal more information soon. Many fans have trouble imagining Nathan Drake as played by anyone but Nolan North. Even though North has been supportive of the film, there is no guarantee that fans will be.

Uncharted is currently slated to premiere in theaters on July 16, 2021.
