Sniper Elite 4 is heading to Switch in November

Includes local multiplayer, gyro aiming, and more.

It might have seemed like a long-shot but developer Rebellion's WW2 shooter sequel Sniper Elite 4 will be making its way to Switch next month, on 17th November.

Sniper Elite 4, the latest in Rebellion's long line of third-person tactical shooters, picks up immediately after the events of its predecessor, this time travelling to Italy, 1943 - "from sun-drenched Mediterranean coastal towns, to ancient forests, mountain valleys, and colossal Nazi megastructures" - for some typically satisfying Nazi-busting, replete with the series' iconic kill cam, across solo, co-op, and online multiplayer modes.

The end result is an experience that Eurogamer's Martin Robinson very much enjoyed when he reviewed the original release back in 2017; despite a few caveats ("doge references aren't particularly welcome anywhere in 2017, least of all in mission text for a WW2-themed video game", he wrote), Martin still considered Sniper Elite 4 to be the finest entry in the series yet.

"Such blemishes aren't enough to mask the brilliance that shines through here," he opined, "Rebellion has folded in the essence of stealth greats such as Splinter Cell and Metal Gear while keeping the characterful flavour of Sniper Elite itself, and for the first time it's not necessary to make any excuses on its behalf. Sniper Elite 4 is a really good video game. It's as simple as that."

Sniper Elite 4's Switch edition - which looks like this - will support gyroscopic motion aiming, HD rumble, and the Pro Controller, and will feature local wireless multiplayer in co-op and versus modes when it launches on 17th November.
