Much to the dismay of some fans who aren't keen on the series' more supernatural leanings, Ubisoft has already confirmed that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will have a number of mythical elements. From God-given visions to fights with giant animals and even creepy witches, main character Eivor will be forced to tackle the unexplainable throughout his or her adventure.
And now, as per a tweet from Ubisoft Nordic, we know that you'll be visiting the realms of Asgard and Jotunheim from Norse mythology.
"With the help of Valka, the Seer, leap beyond reality in to the mythological worlds of Asgard and Jotunheim," reads the tweet. The locations themselves look lovely, but as mentioned, it's yet more evidence that Assassin's Creed is keen to embrace its fantastical side.

Anybody who doesn’t like the supernatural stuff seems to have completely forgotten the entire Juno, The Ones Who Came Before, Pieces of Eden plotlines. Like... it’s just the same idea?
I would love too see Odin,Thor,Loki in the game at some point cant wait ultimate edition preordered a month ago.

@Medic_Alert Considering even the guy in charge of Assassin’s Creed has been booted, I’d say they’re at least taking action. At the end of the day, it’s a good thing if we hear about it as this crap happens on a daily basis in companies worldwide but at least it’s come to light.
Was never interested in this after buying syndicate and finding it very boring and generic. This Nordic mythology direction sounds a lot more interesting

@nessisonett Well, Ubisoft making games with the rioters waving flags with the BLM fist and your task is to take them down isn’t happening daily with companies world-wide. Ubisoft might be “trying” to fix their toxic company, but for me, they have a very long way to go. I will no longer support them until they prove they’ve taken the long road to fix their top-down toxic work culture and practices.
@starhops Yeah, that was pretty horrific, I can’t argue with that. I mean, it was a Tom Clancy game though, that’s par for the course when the source material is jingoistic nonsense. At the end of the day, Ubisoft have over 18000 employees and I wouldn’t want to blame the AC team for the actions of a completely separate team working on a mobile title.
@starhops @Medic_Alert I agree wholeheartedly. I want even looking forward to the game until some of the recent revelations, so I can definitely wait and see if it's worth picking up pre-owned.
@nessisonett I'm not going to judge anyone for taking that approach, but for me personally I'm going to save my money for studios who are doing stuff I approve of. To each their own!
I'm still looking forward to this as a guilty pleasure, but personally the only great Assassin's Creed is the first one. Every game since, even the otherwise excellent Ezio trilogy has missed most of the core tenets of what was supposed to be AC. You never feel like an assassin anymore. The whole "infiltrate, hide in plain sight, hide in the shadows, then make yourself known" sequence is what made the game unique and original. After that it's just a third person action game/RPG. The intrigue of connecting the whole genetic memory idea vanished (and really went to pot after the first game.) And the supernatural stuff went off the rails after that first game.
The first game was just special and unique. Every game after it is just "a decently fun game."

@nessisonett your first comment is absolutely spot on. I love all that first civilisation stuff! But they've not really added much to it since Desmond released Juno at the end of AC3, I want them to fully embrace the present day stuff again and show us Juno trying to enslave mankind in more detail... I think it was Juno? 😂
@StonyKL Syndicate was a low point, for sure. But Origins and Odyssey were amazing, especially Odyssey.

Now I am wondering if the main weapon is a returning ice axe. I might have the wrong IP in mind, but looking forward to play as female Kratos.
@nessisonett You could also mention the whole heaven, hell and Atlantis thing in the Odyssey DLCs. Having Asgard and Jotunheim in a game named "Valhalla" seems perfectly natural to me.
The Medusa fight in AC Odyssey was a belter.
@theheadofabroom Same. Ubisoft is off my gaming list for now. I’m sure there are good people working for them, but I can’t support a company like that. I hope they get to a healthier place.
Looks okay, guess I'm fine with it, but they seem to just be trying to capitalize off of the success of god of war. But, can't say anything yet, I may eat my words, but as it's Ubisoft I doubt it.
