The next installment in the Assassin's Creed franchise is only a few weeks away. Many are looking forward to exploring the Viking era world that Assassin's Creed Valhalla offers, which will follow main character Eivor as they attempt to conquer England. Valhalla is expected to have a large open-world map, but just how many regions will be explorable is still relatively unknown.

Recent information about Assassin's Creed Valhalla has revealed that the story will follow Eivor as they raid England to establish a settlement for their people. Viking era England is going to look very different compared to modern standards, but this gives the game the chance to explore legendary sites such as Sherwood Forest. But, like its predecessor Assassin's Creed Odyssey, it seems Assassin's Creed Valhalla may explore some mystical locations as well.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla Art director Raphael Lacoste has answered a fan on Twitter asking what region in the new game he is most proud of. In response Lacoste revealed that Asgard will be one of the new locations included in Valhalla. Asgard is one of the nine realms in Norse Mythology and is typically a home to the Gods. Valhalla itself is also said to be a hall for slain warriors located within Asgard, so it's now possible that players may be able to visit the famous location that is featured in the game's title.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla has teased that Eivor may have a larger destiny in the new game, but now it seems the character may have a connection to the Gods as well. Different renditions of Asgard have appeared in popular media over the years, but it will be interesting to see Assassin's Creed's version of the Godly realm and how expansive it will be. Early gameplay footage of Valhalla has shown the medieval vibe of ninth century England, which looks to be a fairly different environment to Odyssey's Ancient Greece. Ubisoft does look to be sticking to the gameplay style it introduced with Odyssey, but Valhalla will make some additional changes, such as the removing of level-gating and the ability to dual-wield any weapon.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla will also be one of the first launch titles playable on Xbox Series X and PS5, and is expected to run in 4K at 60 frames-per-second on both. The game is sure to be a great test of the next-gen consoles' capabilities, but for those wishing to purchase Valhalla on their current consoles a free next-gen upgrade will be available.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla releases November 10th for PC, PS4, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, and November 12th for PS5.
