For Honor is one of several games that will be ported over from current-generation consoles to the next-generation of consoles this upcoming fall. Some games are making the transfer over, while some games are remastered like Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered for the PS5. Recently, For Honor's developer, Ubisoft Montreal, provided more details about transferring over to the next-generation consoles and the extra benefits the team is adding to the transition.

Well after its release, For Honor has been well-supported by the developer team at Ubisoft Montreal, evidenced with For Honor's latest season four update. Now Ubisoft Montreal reveals that the game will have next-generation compatibility when the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X consoles are released to the public. Not only that, but the game will have all player inventory and progress transfer to the new consoles so players don't lose their content when switching over to next-gen.

The developer stated that For Honor will be made playable for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, and will have a number of graphical enhancements and save transfers as well. The graphical enhancements mainly include improvements to water reflections, distance level of detail, shadows, texture filtering, and 4K resolution for the next-generation of systems. Ubisoft Montreal assures current For Honor players will have their purchases and inventory seamlessly transferred over to the new consoles for free. This is an important reveal since not all PS4 saves will transfer for some games as they upgrade to the next-gen versions, forcing players to start all over again.

That key feature will certainly help ease players into the new version of the game, since they can pick up right where they left off once they have either of the new console. On top of all that, the game will be playable at 60 frames-per-second on all new consoles at the start of Year 4 Season 4 (Y4S4) early next December. Having the game run at 4K and 60 fps definitely falls in line with how most upcoming PS5 games are made. The developer recommends players to stay tuned for more details to be released on future updates for the game as the new consoles roll out.

For Honor's next-gen upgrade and free transfers are a positive benefit to the game, and this puts it ahead of others when the next-gen consoles come out. Thanks to the reveal of this new information, players don't have to worry about starting from scratch when the new version of the game arrives for the next-generation right around the corner. Whether the transition itself is as seamless as the developer claims will be determined when the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are released.

For Honor is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One with versions for the PS5 and Xbox Series X in development.
