Borderlands 3 players have been eager to get their hands on new content, and while Gearbox is working on new skill trees and a new game mode, a second run of the game’s Halloween event should help tide them over. Last week, Bloody harvest was confirmed to return to Borderlands 3, and the event officially kicked off today.

Now going by the name Bloody Harvest Returns, the event will see the return of many features from its first appearance in Borderlands 3. The main boss of the event will be Captain Haunt, the brother of both Captain and General Traunt from the main story. With him will come haunted enemy types and haunted weapons, including the unique “Terror” anointment that turns debuffs into positives. Rakk-O-Lanterns, Hecktoplasm, and Bloody Harvest’s unique location will all return as well.

The mode is bringing a few new rewards as well, such as skins coming for those who complete the event’s challenges. While some Borderlands fans are more interested in having Fl4k and Zer0’s origins confirmed, those eager to get in the Halloween spirit should be happy to see new goodies to grind for. Gearbox seems to have listened to fan complaints from previous events as well, as they confirmed that new challenges will be less grindy in a blog post.

For completing four of Bloody Harvest Returns’ challenges, players will receive a unique trinket that works like others in Borderlands 3. An ECHO skin will be rewarded to fans who complete eight challenges, while 12 will give players a Vault Hunter skin called “Haunted Look.” Lastly, players dedicated enough to beat all 15 challenges will get a weapon skin called “Porphyrophobia.” The rewards will be unlocked for every character, meaning players only need to complete the challenges one time to acquire everything from the event.

The final change in this year’s Bloody Harvest sees new Haunted enemies added to the expansions, which should allow players to grind out the challenges wherever they want as opposed to only seeing haunted enemies in Bloody Harvest’s location. This change means that players have a good chance of finding enemies while fighting DLC 4’s SpongeBob boss or exploring The Handsome Jackpot with Timothy, allowing players to experience Halloween content while doing whatever they want.

These quality of life changes and new skins to strive for should make Bloody Harvest Returns a fun distraction for players until major new content like Borderlands 3 Arms Race arrives. Players can start completing the Halloween-themed challenges now, and the event runs until November 5.

Borderlands 3 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are also in development.
