The news about Zack Snyder's cut of Justice League continues to be as inescapable as it is enthusiastic. Especially in a time period when basically all major superhero films have either been halted or pushed back, there's plenty of free airspace to be taken up by Zack Snyder's latest project. The latest comments come from Henry Cavill, who was interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, and says that he doesn't care what people think about the project, he's just happy it's being made.

When asked, Cavill remarked that he didn't care about the discourse surrounding the making of the Snyder Cut. “Whether you agree with it or not, it doesn’t matter. It’s a storyteller’s, it’s a filmmaker’s right to have that vision realized.... I’m excited to see what that vision was and how it looks.” The optimism is somewhat reassuring, and Cavill does seem to be confident that Snyder's vision, in all its four hour long glory, will be worth it.

Still, there are realistic concerns over how much Snyder can do to improve the project. The original movie got fairly negative reactions from both fans and critics, and led to DC scrapping a lot of its plans for the DC Cinematic Universe. There are plenty of people who believe that there may not be anything worth salvaging, and that the extended version won't be a radical enough change to save the film. Cavill seemed unfazed by those ideas however: “Especially, [Snyder]'s got the advantage of hindsight now. It’s going to be even better. I just want to see a good movie.”

Despite all the ups and downs, critical reception, changing plans, and behind the scenes controversies, Cavill seemed happy that the Snyder cut was finally happening. He remarked that the most important thing was that Snyder was finally going to make the movie he envisioned. “I’m just really happy that Zack got to realize his vision. I think it’s important for a filmmaker and a storyteller to have their intended vision released and shown to the world, and I’m looking forward to seeing it myself. It’s been quite the ordeal.”

The Zack Snyder cut of Justice League will release on HBO Max on September 5th, 2021.
