The Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombie reveal answered tons of fan questions, finally providing details as to what to expect in next year's game. After the round of Black Ops Cold War teaser and first look videos passed, Treyarch tweeted an interesting last detail that fans were not expecting.

While the Call of Duty Zombie game mode has been a classic experience for several title generations, one distinct version of Zombies still stands out in the series. In the past, the game mode released as a small mini-game option to the core Zombies experience. Then, a sequel appeared building on the classic foundations. Now, with a new tweet from Treyarch, it appears that a third version in the series will be coming to Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold Wars.

The image is a direct hint to a loved mini-game version of Zombies known as the Dead Ops Arcade. This took the zombie blasting experience and turned into a minor bullet-hell experience where players must battle through multiple waves and maps of angry undead. This will be the first Dead Ops Arcade since the sequel's reveal in Black Ops 3.

The silhouette in the background made many fans believe that this could be a return back to the original Dead Ops Arcade map. The original game mode had a Mayan jungle theme that would easily fit on a lost island like in the promo. While the promo gives very little information, fans were quick to speculate based on past experiences with the series.

The Dead Ops Arcade series was a twin-stick top-down shooter experience that relied on a survival mechanic similar to the rest of the Zombie franchise. As the waves get increasingly difficult, players will have to continue to outmaneuver and dodge incoming zombies while firing infinite ammo at the aggressively assaulting Zombie horde.

The entire game was stylized like an arcade experience, challenging the player to achieve higher scores in each attempt. Multipliers were gained by collecting treasure that would slowly fill until capping at 9. Players would begin each game with three lives and run until the lives are all expended for infinite rounds.

The sequel, Dead Ops Arcade 2: Cyber's Avenging, ran on similar principles but did require a special process to unlock. It is unclear if the third game in the series will also require an unlock process, but there are many Dead Ops fans who are simply happy to see the Zombies game mode's return.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to release on November 13th for PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, and Xbox Series X.
