Announced earlier this year, Perfect World Entertainment's Magic: Legends was originally slated for a PC launch in 2020, with consoles coming later on down the road. However, as we learned today thanks to a development blog by Executive Producer Steven Ricossa, that won't be the case.

It's been a hot minute since the last State of Development update from the Legends team, and Ricossa lays out what the team has been working on lately, Ricossa dove into some of what the team has been working on over the months since the last State of Development blog, including August's announcement of the Necromancer class,  as well as the different regions to explore. Additionally, the team has been concuding a Closed Alpha with over 60, 000 people participating.

Based on the feedback from the alpha, Ricossa mentions that the team has made the decision to push the release of Magic: Legends back to Spring of 2021.

While we evaluated player feedback and saw quite a bit of positivity, we also saw some opportunities to make impactful adjustments. These opportunities include improvements to the player experience, loadout options, tutorial flow, storytelling, and more, in order to do the storied Multiverse of Magic justice. To that end, we’ve decided to shift the release of Magic: Legends to the Spring of next year to ensure we deliver the highest quality Magic experience we possibly can.

While it's a shame that we won't see Magic: Legends hit this year, hopefully the team can make that Spring 2021 release with a game players will truly enjoy. Ricossa states that players will see another round of invites go out at the end of October, so if you signed up there's a chance you'll be able to dive in a bit early and provide some feedback on the action RPG before its release.

Recently, the team detailed one of the provinces you'll see in Legends, Gavony on the plane of Innistrad, one of Magic's iconic locations.
