The PlayStation 5 finally has a release date - and it's only a few months away. After the pre-order debacle, Sony has been working overtime to make sure there is stock of the new console all around the world. But it seems one celebrity may already have their hands on a PS5.

Rapper Travis Scott recently posted an image to his Instagram sporting the brand new PlayStation 5 DualSense controller. A PS5 console is not featured in the image, but considering the image caption is "I will be playing until the sun up" it's logical he has the console as well. How exactly Scott got his hands on a PS5 console so long before everyone else is another question, but it's possible that Sony is beginning to ship out PS5 consoles in advance to celebrities and influencers for marketing purposes.

Scott does have a history with the gaming industry, being a frequent Fortnite player. The rapper even conducted a live concert within Fortnite, which managed to break Fortnite's concurrent player record. It's no surprise then that Sony would choose Scott as one of the first players to receive a PS5 and it might also hint at future collaborations between the two. With Scott's large social media presence, many will be keeping a sharp eye on his future posts to see his reaction to the new PlayStation.

This is one of the rare instances of a DualSense controller caught out in the wild. Geoff Keighley did a hands-on presentation of the controller earlier in July which revealed a side-by-side comparison of the PS4 DualShock and new DualSense controllers, as well as some insight into its haptic feedback functions. Sightings of the PS5 console outside of the factory have been rare, but size specifications have been able to reveal that the new console will be the largest PlayStation yet.

It's likely that more PS5 consoles will be making public appearances soon so that Sony can start to build positive promotion and reviews for its new console. After the chaos that was the PlayStation 5 pre-order process, which left many frustrated players empty handed, Sony could use some positive marketing. Although, the company has promised that more stock will be made available in the coming weeks to make up for the instant sell-out of pre-orders. Whether there will be enough available for launch day is unlikely, but hopefully more consoles will be made available in time for the holiday season.

The PlayStation 5 will release on November 12 in the US and select countries and on November 19 in the rest of the world.
