Mega Evolutions were added to Pokemon GO at the end of last month, and developer Niantic has been working to get players involved with this new gameplay mechanic ever since. Last week, for instance, fans had access to a special Timed Research that encouraged them to do battle with Mega Evolved Pokemon, and now a brand new Mega-focused Timed Research is available for PoGO players to pursue. This Timed Research is part of the ongoing Mega Buddy Challenge event, and this guide has all of the details.

To start, the Mega Buddy Challenge Timed Research will be available from September 22 at 8am local time to September 28 at 10pm local time, and it has four steps. Each of these steps is comprised of multiple tasks that grant a variety of rewards, and there is even some added incentive for completing Pokemon GO's Mega Buddy Challenged Timed Research in its entirety. More specifically, players that finish all of the following tasks will eventually unlock another Timed Research that features Mega Gengar.

Additionally, there is special Field Research attached to the event, and fans that complete those tasks will receive Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, Blastoise, and Beedrill.

One last thing to mention is that players can still complete the A Mega Discovery Special Research if they have not already, and it grants quite a lot of Beedrill Mega Energy. These rewards may prove helpful to those fans that are stuck on Step 3 of the Mega Buddy Challenge Timed Research, allowing them to Mega Evolve a Beedrill with relative ease.
