There are some mysteries that gamers have yet to solve, even years after their release, and one such conundrum is Destiny 2's Wish 15. One fan took the time to create a crazily in-depth theory that could turn out to be the key to finally solving the fifteenth wish from Destiny 2: Forsaken.

Many Destiny 2 players are currently awaiting the newest upcoming expansion, Beyond Light, but those who've been playing the game for a while may remember Shadowkeep, which released almost a year ago, and Forsaken, which has been out now for over two years. In Forsaken, players were introduced to the Dreaming City, where players could complete the Last Wish raid and enter codes to get special prizes. Datamining reveals fifteen codes, but players have only been able to find and unlock fourteen in these two years.

Although Bungie has remained silent on the matter, many Destiny 2 players believe in Wish 15, and for some, it remains a Holy Grail quest that captivates a lot of time and energy. Reddit user TheMadMaritimer took to r/raidsecrets to share an incredibly detailed and thought-out theory for finding this wish code, and it includes quite a bit of complicated mathematics. The user posted a long and complex theory complete with a spreadsheet showing off their work with modular arithmetic, which is, according to TheMadMaritimer, involved with looping numbers.

The user talks about delving into a few other Wish 15 theory posts on Reddit, and then switching up some matrix representations of the wish codes people have unlocked. Drawing on their history of linear algebra classes, TheMadMaritimer tried a few different ways of messing with the numbers before settling on trying a mathematical function called "modulo multiplicative inverses," and then tried to invert the matrices by finding each symbol's inverse.

Although this didn't end up working, the user is confident about this theory applying in some way due to how the lore has connected timeloops and modulo arithmetic, so they shared the data in case anyone else wanted to try. Since there is a triumph associated with Wish 15 in the database, plenty of players have reason to believe that this isn't a wild goose chase, but is a long-form puzzle that Bungie put out for its fans. Some of the Destiny 2 Wish 15 theories have been debunked, and although this user's work didn't immediately succeed, it has potential, especially if the community works together.

Since Xbox Game Pass users will have access to Forsaken very soon, this could be a great opportunity for even more players to deep-dive into the game and combine their skills to put Wish 15 to rest once and for all.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
