The Season of Arrivals in Destiny 2 is now the longest-running season in the game's history. Players who may have expected to see new content in light of its unexpected extension are currently seeing the removal of content instead.

As per Bungie Help's Twitter account, clans in Destiny 2 "can no longer gain XP and Hawthorne's Weekly Challenge can no longer be completed." This change will remain in effect for the duration of the Season of Arrivals, which is currently set to end November 10.

Some fans are upset at the sudden program change given there are still about two months remaining in the current season. Due to the new Beyond Light expansion being delayedDestiny's Season of Arrivals was unexpectedly extended into what will now be a five-month-long season. Many were unhappy about the delayed content, but people were ready to take advantage of the extra time in a variety of ways. However, those who were hoping to use this extra time to grind XP with their Clans can no longer take on this task.

The decision to disable Clan Experience and Hawthorn's Weekly Challenge, another means of earning Clan Experience, effectively renders Clan efforts in Destiny 2 pointless for the rest of the season. Clans can still adventure together, but a lack of Clan XP-gain means that players basically have to sit idle and watch their Clan Ranks do the same until November 10.

Bungie Help claims that their "investigation found that trying to fix these issues could result in all Clans losing their earned ranks," so to prevent Clans from losing their hard work, Bungie hit the pause button. This way, Clans can at least benefit from the work they've managed to put in thus far, even if it means having to sit on their hands for another few weeks. Fans are expecting four planets to be vaulted come November, so there is already a restriction set on what many can focus on for the future.

Dedicated Guardians have been quick to voice their grievances on Twitter, with players urging Bungie to take a more proactive stance against their in-game bugs. Whether or not Destiny's creators reverse this decision before Beyond Light arrives should send a message for the future about whether a longer season means that fans expect more, or less, content to keep them occupied.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
