In the time since Beat Saber's release in May 2018, it has only featured a single-player mode. However, developer Beat Games has announced it will add a multiplayer mode to the beloved VR rhythm game on October 13.

Beat Saber's upcoming multiplayer mode has actually been in development for a while. In a September 2018 update, the studio tweeted that 85% of the mode had been completed at the time. However, details have remained sparse since.

A teaser trailer was released along with the announcement.

The video doesn't present any details about the game's multiplayer mode, but the flashy presentation fits Beat Saber's high-octane rhythm gameplay.

There will be no cross-play for the Steam and Oculus versions of Beat Saber, as per RoadtoVR. Although, Beat Saber players will soon get more information regarding how cross-play will work between Rift and Quest.

Given multiplayer is a staple of many rhythm games, Beat Saber's addition of a multiplayer mode will likely come as a delight to many Beat Saber and rhythm game fans. As an outsider within the rhythm genre, due to its use of VR, Beat Saber hasn't quite garnered the traction of past music game hits like Guitar Hero. However, with regular content updates like this, Beat Saber may end up one of the most replayable modern rhythm games.

Beat Saber also regularly adds new tracks and songs to its repertoire. For instance, a Linkin Park DLC pack was recently released for Beat Saber. The pack includes multiple hits by Linkin Park, including "One Step Closer" and "Breaking the Habit." Each song in the pack can be purchased for $1.99 on the PlayStation Store, though the entire package can be purchased for $13.99.

Beat Saber is currently available on Oculus, PC, and PS4.
