Treyarch has taken the first couple of steps towards fully unveiling the multiplayer offerings of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and it did so with a trailer featuring footage running on a PlayStation 5. Every snippet of gameplay you see in the epic, three-minute trailer above is taken from Sony's next-gen console, and it looks outstanding. So too does the new take on multiplayer that Treyarch is promising with the latest entry in the blockbuster franchise.

Focusing on Deniable Operations, these will be large-scale multiplayer matches that seem to be so much bigger and better than your typical combat bout from previous Call of Duty titles. We'll be taking to the neon streets of Miami, assaulting a boat in the North Atlantic, claiming a downed satellite for ourselves in Angola, hitting the ice in Uzbekistan, and manning various vehicles in the Ural Mountains.

You'll be able to sample all of this intense and chaotic action first on PlayStation 4 with an open beta on 10th October 2020, or pre-order the game and gain access two days prior. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War itself launches on 13th November 2020, but don't forget that you'll need to purchase the cross-gen version to qualify for the free PS5 upgrade.
