Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a dystopian future and will allow players to explore a vast open-world. With these elements at play, as well as the reputation of developer CD Projekt Red, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games of the year. The game has faced delays and issues, but the team behind the game has responded to concerns with integrity, outlining a focus on delivering a satisfying product. The game and studio have once again gone against the trend by revealing that the price of the game will not be inflated for the next generation.

The announcement comes in the wake of other companies like Take-Two Interactive, who is raising game prices for next-generation games. While some players do not mind the prospect of a $10 extra fee, others feel that games can be played on both generations should remain the same price, particularly if the offering is not considerably different. CD Projekt Red seems to side with consumers who believe cross-generational games should be the same price and they will not be raising the price of Cyberpunk 2077 for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 players.

In an investor call, executive Michal Nowakowski stated that the company intended to honor its pre-order policy. After affirming the price would remain the same Nowakowski explained, "We're not going to change it at the last minute to 70 USD." This should please consumers as it seems to be a decision that has been made with fans in mind. Cyberpunk 2077 is also offering a free upgrade to the next generation of consoles and this may be a factor in the pricing. Nonetheless, this seems to be a win for consumers as prices will stay in line with expectations.

Cyberpunk wont raise price

CD Projekt Red appears to be developing its next game with consumers in mind, and this is showcased through this decision as well as free DLC in Cyberpunk 2077. While this should not be a novel approach, the gaming market has seemed to be increasingly focused on financial return at the expense of consumers. However, if this title is a success it could mark a shift in industry practices because of its potential audience and profit.

Cyberpunk 2077 is already picking up awards and the game also seems to be doing excellent PR. This may be a winning combination and anticipation is building as the release date for the title approaches. With that in mind, many will hope that the game which seems to be made with a focus on players can deliver an enjoyable experience.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be available November 19th on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with PS5, Stadia, and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
