As Battle for Azeroth enters its final months, World of Warcraft players are preparing for an imminent scourge invasion which arrives with the Shadowlands pre-patch event. But ahead of Shadowlands' release date, it's clear Blizzard is pulling out all the stops to make the next expansion a success, including by adding a free mount chosen by the players.

While hundreds of mounts can be earned in-game through different methods, as other mounts remain exclusively rare, players occasionally receive free ones as part of promotions or limited time events. Soon after stepping foot into the realm of death, another mount will be given out thanks to the latest official announcement. However, its design hasn't been finalized yet and must be decided by a community poll.

On the official forums, players can vote between 5 ideas cooked up by the World of Warcraft art team. The choices include the Wandering Ancient, Soaring Spelltome, Nerubian Swarmer, Curious Caterpillar, and the Gooey Slimesaber. The poll runs for 2 weeks until September 18th at 3:00 PM PDT, and the choice with the highest number of votes across all regions will be made into reality.

Although players won't get their new mount until early 2021, the voting currently shows most heroes are extremely excited about riding around on a giant tree or spider. But everyone who wants to be eligible for this freebie will need to have purchased Shadowlands before the mount is distributed next year.

World of Warcraft is available on PC. World of Warcraft: Shadowlands will release on October 26th/27th worldwide.
