While it took Activision much longer than usual to announce the next Call of Duty game, we now know that Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is set to launch on November 13 for both current- and next-gen platforms. November 13 is awhile away, but fans will get the chance to play the game early thanks to its open beta, though Activision has yet to reveal exactly when that will be. However, it seems the storefronts for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: WW2 have let the cat out of the bag early.

Activision has made it possible to pre-order Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War through both the Call of Duty: WW2 and Modern Warfare storefronts, and fans noticed that the WW2 store listing includes the beta release date. What's more is that the Call of Duty: WW2 store listing claims that the Black Ops Cold War beta release date is October 8, which matches with the date leaked earlier by the Modern Warfare store. Considering this, it seems as though fans can safely mark October 8 on their calendars, but there are couple of things to keep in mind.

For one, the October 8 release date for the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta only applies to those who pre-ordered the digital edition of the game on PS4. The Black Ops Cold War open beta will start later for PC and Xbox players that pre-order, and even later for those who don't pre-order the game at all. Secondly, it's possible that Activision hasn't made an official announcement about this date because it wants to leave its options open and potentially shift the Black Ops Cold War beta to some other time.

As always, it's best to wait for an official announcement, but luckily fans won't have to wait too much longer to get details. Activision has already confirmed that it will be showcasing the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War multiplayer at a special event on September 9, and it's quite likely that beta details will be announced at that point. If so, fans only have to wait about a week to learn more about the open beta and what it will entail.

Meanwhile, fans are also waiting to learn more about the Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode. All that's been revealed so far is that the Zombies mode does indeed exist and will be a part of the game. Otherwise, Activision is keeping quiet about what form the Black Ops Cold War Zombies mode will take. More information should come to light in the weeks ahead.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches on November 13 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
