Leakers previously revealed that the next season of Fortnite will be all about Marvel Comics, and that has since been confirmed by the latest in-game event. Comic book pages all about Thor and Galactus have started appearing in-game, followed by a rift in the sky, and now the arrival of Thor's hammer Mjolnir, which has destroyed a chunk of the battle royale map.

Near Salty Springs, Fortnite players can now find a large crater with Thor's hammer in it. The hammer is accompanied by a countdown timer that is presumably counting down to the Fortnite Season 4 start date. For those who may be confused, this all started because Galactus has zeroed-in on the Fortnite world for his next meal, and Thor has shown up in an effort to warn the people living there about Galactus' impending arrival. It's quite possible that Galactus will cause major battle royale map changes going into Season 4, but it's also possible that Galactus' arrival will be saved for the end of the season instead.

Regardless, we do know that Fortnite Season 4 will have big story developments, so fans should have a lot to look forward to in the days and weeks ahead.

The arrival of Thor and Galactus will likely be the biggest developments Season 4 has to offer, but there will be plenty more content added to the game as well. If leakers to be believed, Fortnite Season 4 will have more Marvel-themed skins for players to add to their collection, including skins based on Wolverine and Storm from X-Men, as well as Groot of Guardians of the Galaxy fame. It's quite likely that there will be some Thor-themed cosmetics as well, not to mention a new POI based on the character.

This isn't the first time that Fortnite has added Marvel content. Besides the Avengers limited-time modes that have been released over the years, the game also had some special Deadpool challenges that players had to complete to unlock exclusive content based on that popular character. A Captain America skin was also added to Fortnite to celebrate the 4th of July holiday in the United States.

With Fortnite remaining one of the most popular games in the world, fans can expect the Fortnite crossover events to continue. These crossovers will likely coincide with big film releases and the like, as they have in the past, so it will definitely be interesting to see what other crossovers will be in store for the BR's future.

Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
