Several changes came to Overwatch with the August 13 patch, but not all of them were listed in the official patch notes. One of these "secret" changes turns Mercy into one of the few heroes who can sing karaoke in Busan.

For some reason, the Overwatch team chose to only let certain heroes sing onstage in Downtown Busan when players press the interact button by the microphone. As of Overwatch's update on August 13, Mercy entered this limited group. The karaoke bar has been one of the most exciting Downtown Busan spawns since it got added in 2018, as it allows players to watch their favorite heroes sing to them.

Previously, the only heroes able to sing were Echo, Brigitte, Genji, McCree, Torbjörn, Reinhardt, Sigma, Wrecking Ball, Tracer, and Zenyatta. Reaper, Overwatch's OG close-range Damage hero, also has an interaction available with the mic, but instead of singing, he'll refuse (while also asking for a faster beat). And now Mercy is part of the group, and has her own unique lines to sing pre-match.

Mercy's song is an interesting riff on her proclaiming that she's a "dancing doctor" in her German accent, followed by some scatting along to the beat. The voice actress clearly had a lot of fun and a lot of fans are enamored with how adorable Mercy sounds, even if the lyrics are hardly complex. But the karaoke function isn't really meant to be in-depth or lengthy, and just shows off a fun side of the character, in this case, Mercy and the Overwatch hero's quirky voice lines.

It's unclear why this particular update didn't make it into the patch notes, which was mostly concerned with hero buffs and nerfs. It does make sense that these took priority, seeing as they actually impact gameplay. Hopefully, though more characters will get the karaoke option in later updates, especially the newer Overwatch hero Baptiste, who came along after the karaoke bar got added in but is still unable to sing in it. Echo, on the other hand, is Overwatch's newest hero but entered the game already able to sing.

Still, unlisted changes can be interesting Easter eggs in Overwatch, and although players can hope for their mains to get the ability eventually, karaoke is still just a fun side activity that doesn't have any major impact on the match. But if the next karaoke addition is unlisted like with Mercy, it's a fun idea for players spawning in the karaoke bar to test out and see if their favorite hero can finally sing.

Overwatch is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
