Only a few days have gone by since Ubisoft launched Hyper Scape in full and kicked off its first season, but that hasn’t stopped the game’s developers from dropping some teases about what’s to come, and where players might be able to experience it from.

In a recent Reddit AMA focused on the game’s development, the Hyper Scape dev team touched upon a number of new features they have in the works. Namely, they said that they’re either working on or looking into multiple new modes, with specific mention being made of Team Deathmatch and Duos modes, the latter of which will be added “soon.” What’s more the team confirmed that they plan to add a new weapon and new Hack ability to the game with each new season.

Outside of gameplay features, the developers also touched upon the topic of cross-play. While it’s now available on both PC and consoles, Hyper Scape does not support cross-play currently. Ubisoft has previously stated that it plans to add it eventually, and the dev team elaborated further by confirming that it should arrive before the end of the year. So it should only be a few months before it’s added, in other words.

Aside from these, perhaps the most noteworthy answer from the dev team hinted at a potential Nintendo Switch version of Hyper Scape, something Ubisoft has yet to say anything about in any official way. When asked about it, creative director Jean-Christophe Guyot didn’t immediately shoot down the possibility of a Switch port, instead seeming to be interested in the idea. “Wouldn't this game be awesome on Switch? I love the Switch,” he wrote.

That’s hardly confirmation that it’ll come to the Switch eventually, but it’s hardly a stretch to imagine it happening either. The Switch is one of the best-selling consoles right now, and has already proven capable of supporting major battle royale games like Fortnite (not to mention it’s also getting Apex Legends sometime this fall). It probably won’t get a port before the PS5 and Xbox Series X do, but with how popular the Switch is, there’s a good chance the game will show up on there sooner or later.

It’s been an odd launch for Hyper Scape so far. Although it seemed poised to become the next big battle royale Twitch sensation back when it was first announced, now it’s being heavily overshadowed by the likes of Fortnite and Fall Guys on that front. That’s especially rough given how much Ubisoft has hyped its built-in livestream features, but despite that, the foundation here seems solid enough for the game to build a proper following over time as it comes out with new seasons, new content, and new ports.

Hyper Scape is free-to-play for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and is slated to be a launch title for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
