After an amazing early access release and a single delay, Risk of Rain 2 has reached its version 1.0 milestone. Developers Hopoo Games and PlayEveryWare have plugged in some exciting new content that will please newcomers and veteran players alike.

Like its predecessor, Risk of Rain 2 is a roguelike shooter that sees players navigating randomly generated levels while blasting through waves of increasingly difficult enemies. But unlike the first Risk of Rain, the sequel features full, 3D environments as opposed to 2D platforming. Its vibrant color palette, tight controls, and varied character abilities won a large following when it first hit early access. Even in its incomplete state, Risk of Rain 2 stood as one of 2019's finest indie titles, managing to sell over a million copies in its first month of availability.

The new content arriving with full launch includes the game's tenth playable character, the Captain, who was selected by a community poll, and, fittingly, a final boss for the game's campaign, set on a lunar base with new enemies. As a special promotion, the game is currently priced at $15.99 USD, but Risk of Rain 2 will be getting a price hike after the launch deal expires. It is also worth noting that console players will not see the 1.0 update until sometime later this fall.

Early adopters who have lapsed since the game's pre-release launch will definitely want to return to the title to see what has been added and changed. Risk of Rain 2 also features ton of easily overlooked secrets that are worth hunting down in addition to the new, full release content update.

Risk of Rain 2 is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
