Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise arose as a sequel nobody expected yet a passionate minority clamored for. With its release last month, a lot of that initial buzz was quickly swept away as Deadly Premonition 2's disastrous framerate became the talk of the industry.

A month to the day of the Switch exclusive's launch, Deadly Premonition 2 has finally been patched for a much smoother experience. This patch comes after developer Toybox promised to sort out the shoddy performance. While the previous patched helped, this one is the real fix players have been waiting for.

While by no means is Deadly Premonition 2 now a technical masterpiece, in comparison to how it launched it almost appears to be two entirely separate builds. The main area that has been addressed is the outdoor traversal in which FBI Agent Francis York Morgan skateboards around. Before, some found the consistent framerate to be below 10fps throughout traversal across the Louisiana town of Le Carre. Nintendo Life Editor Gavin Lane captured the new footage to show the stark difference.

While fans are happy to see Deadly Premonition 2 be in a much better place technically, there are still those who rightly question why the game was released in the state it was. With the new patch showing that the issue could have been fixed, fans feel publisher Rising Star Games jumped the gun on the release. With the framerate being the more obvious issue, some players missed the bigger controversy around the games representation of certain characters. The backlash was so stark that Deadly Premonition 2's director Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro had to apologize to fans.

So with most Deadly Premonition 2  players done with the strange case in the heart of the Bayou, at least a second playthrough will be a much smoother ride. It also has inverted camera options now for those wanting to go on the wild side.

Deadly Premonition 2 is available now on Switch.
