Grand Theft Auto Online gets new missions, new vehicles, new racing events, and a racing event editor on August 11

Well, it looks like Rockstar Games has stopped being vague about what’s next for Grand Theft Auto Online. Tuesday, August 11th, will see the Los Santos Summer Special arrive to the multiplayer open world, bringing along with it a whole bunch of activities for players to take part in.

For those who own the Galaxy Super Yacht (which is absolutely styled after MOP’s Golden Yacht, which I’m calling the Indefatigable), a variety of new missions can be launched from the location, whether they involve deep sea diving or high-speed open water shenanigans. There will also be a variety of new Business Battles to take on and new Adversary Modes that take place at the Diamond casino. Finally, the update is bringing several new vehicles to the game, including a couple of new open wheel racing machines. Players can stretch the legs of these new cars in a series of new Open Wheel Race events, or create their own open wheel races thanks to the appropriately named Open Wheel Race Creator.

The announcement also promises more things for players after this update, including ongoing weekly bonuses and special events and a new Heist that will be part of the game’s “biggest update ever.” That’s for later down the line, but at least there will be things for players to actually get up to in GTAO next week.
