If there is any doubt whether the Resident Evil series is as popular as it seems, the numbers have proven its success. Capcom has released the latest total sales numbers which shows that the franchise has topped worldwide in millions.

Capcom’s Resident Evil and all its components has been serving double time to be the best games for its players for over a decade. Now, its efforts have been rewarded with a major sales milestone being passed, giving it more drive to keep going with Resident Evil 8, remakes and much more.

The Capcom figures show that the whole series has received a total of 103 million sales globally. With the Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil 6, and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard being some of the most popular releases. It was recently revealed that the newest release of Resident Evil 3 did not perform as well as its earlier releases, but still contributes to the series’ success, nonetheless. With the remake of Resident Evil 2 up at 6.6 million units, the third remake only got up to 2.7 million thus far, marking a rather large difference between the two and the rest of the horror games.

It is possible that the numbers for the Resident Evil 3 remake might still go up as it was only released a few months ago during a rather difficult time for many with the pandemic that has been unfolding. And even though the third remake has had a bit of a rough and slow start, Capcom has started selling premium downloadable content for Resident Evil Resistance for the online multiplayer that comes with the Resident Evil 3 remake. The rough amount that Capcom makes from DLC hasn’t been published, but it could be enough to make up the difference.

It appears Capcom has been working tirelessly by working on various parts of the franchise simultaneously and keeping its games updated.
