Marvel's Avengers has managed to excite both video game enthusiasts and Marvel fans alike. While the game is set to launch later this year, there is still much left for fans to find out about Marvel's Avengers. However, for how excited fans are, a recent character reveal has left many fans upset, given that the character will be exclusively for PlayStation systems.

Earlier today, it was announced that Spider-Man would be added to the PlayStation version of Marvel's Avengers, a welcome addition to the numerous characters already included in the game. Though, for many fans, the announcement left a bitter taste, leaving many very angry as a result.

The exclusivity of Spider-Man is likely owed to the fact that Sony owns the rights Marvel's Spider-Manwith a game developed exclusively for the PS4 back in 2018. Though, regardless, many fans who own non-PlayStation systems felt betrayed by the move to have Spider-Man be a PlayStation exclusive hero, almost as though they would be buying the exact same game, but with less content.

Console exclusive games and content are not new concepts within the gaming industry by any means. In fact, over the last several decades, there have been plenty of different versions of the same game developed across different platforms that turn out to be dissimilar from one another. Although, in this case, the irritation seems somewhat warranted considering the already limited number of playable characters included in Marvel's Avengers.

This could simply be a sign that each version of the game will have different playable characters exclusively for specific versions of the game. So, if PlayStation gets Spider-Man, then maybe the PC version will get Hawkeye, or the Xbox version will have a Guardians of the Galaxy character. Then again, there likely will be playable DLC characters that should get subsequently launched after the release of the main game. Maybe that will also include console exclusive characters.

In any case, the release of the game is only a month away, so if Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics are going to announce additional console exclusive characters, then hopefully it happens sooner rather than later. In spite of the lack of playable characters, a screenshot of a cluttered inventory screen, and the prospect of console exclusive characters, the game still looks promising to many.

Marvel's Avengers will release on September 4th, 2020 for the PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Google Stadia, and PC.
