The roster for Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers has constantly been growing as development has continued for the upcoming Square Enix produced title. Even DLC characters, like Hawkeye, have already been announced, before the game has even released, but who is going to arrive on release may still not be completely confirmed.

Thanks to a recent product description on Base.com, a UK based, online digital entertainment retailer, players may have gotten an early reveal of a PS4 exclusive character coming to Marvel's Avengers. The description doesn't describe whether or not the character will be made available as a future DLC hero for Avengers, but considering the legal relationship between the hero and Sony, he likely won't be coming to other systems.

According to the now-removed product description, Spider-Man is expected to appear as a PS4 exclusive for Marvel's Avengers, seeming to appear at launch for anyone who plays on Sony's system. Of course, considering that the product description has been taken down, and neither Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics, nor Sony has commented on the leak, this can't be confirmed 100%. That being said, the product descriptions that stores get do generally come directly from the publishers, so if Base.com was confident enough to have this on its official listing, there is some credence to the leak.

Considering how massively popular the PS4 exclusive Spider-Man game has become, as well as how highly anticipated the upcoming PS5 Miles Morales title is among fans, including the character would be huge for Marvel's Avengers. This would also be a huge boost for sales of the PS4 version of the upcoming title, with one of Marvel's most popular characters being exclusive to a single console. The exclusivity could even go on to explain why Spider-Man has been omitted from the main cast so far, even though he's been a canonical part of the Avengers in the comics since very early on in the series' history.

As is always the case with leaks and rumors, even ones as legit as a real product description, this is unconfirmed and should, therefore, be taken with a grain of salt. As much as fans would love to see Spider-Man join the evolving roster with his own Marvel's Avengers hero missions and activities, his addition is not yet a certainty. Regardless, it is still an exciting idea that the web-swinging hero might be coming to the game, so Crystal Dynamics and Sony may want to look into his official inclusion if they hadn't already.

Marvel's Avengers is set to release on September 4th, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with next-gen versions planned for PS5 and Xbox Series X.
