Last month, Square Enix unveiled new information regarding future releases in the Kingdom Hearts series through its Kingdom Hearts 2020 trailer. One of those announcements claimed the Kingdom Hearts 3 soundtrack would release later this year. At the time, Square Enix didn't give a specific date, but fans now know when they can listen to the music from the game.

Any interested Kingdom Hearts fans should mark their calendars for November 11, 2020, when the soundtrack will release worldwide. Both the digital and physical versions come out on the same day, so those with a preference won't have to wait longer than others to get a copy.

The Kingdom Hearts 3 soundtrack will consist of eight discs and feature 160 songs from Kingdom Hearts 3 and a few other recent entries in the series. The announcement specifically calls out the music from Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, Kingdom Hearts Union X, and the Kingdom Hearts 3 Re: Mind DLC.

According to Square Enix, the Kingdom Hearts 3 soundtrack will cost 12,000 yen, which translates to roughly $115 before tax. Fans should be used to paying premium prices on JRPG merchandise, though, especially considering the Final Fantasy 7 watches that Square sold for over $2,000.

The Kingdom Hearts 3 soundtrack has a pre-order option for anyone who wants to grab a copy as soon as it releases. The retailers participating in the pre-order include the Square Enix e-STORE, Sony Music Shop, Amazon.co.jp, Tower Records, Yodobashi.com, HMV&BOOKs online, and Rakuten Books.

The Kingdom Hearts 3 soundtrack will mark the longest amount of time it has taken for a soundtrack to release for a core Kingdom Hearts game. Kingdom Hearts 1's soundtrack actually released a day before the game came out, and the Kingdom Hearts 2 soundtrack released a month after the game launched. Kingdom Hearts 3's soundtrack will be coming nearly two years after the core game. Although, in its defense, it's nearly four times bigger than both albums.

It's also worth noting that the Kingdom Hearts 3 soundtrack arrives within the same release frame as Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, the very first rhyme-based Kingdom Hearts game. It's not likely, but maybe the album's release date hints at when Melody of Memory will come out.
